My thoughts on White Trash Warlock by David R. Slayton

White Trash Warlock by David R. Slayton is on tour with The Write Reads. I am always happy to participate in these tours as I am given a chance to read books that otherwise would have slipped by my radar.

Today’s review is one of those books, and it would have been a shame to miss it, as it is a fantastic story.

Adam is a delightful character with thoughts and feelings we can all relate to. He longs to fit in, but his magical powers prevent that. His family grossly wrongs him yet finds himself in the position of having to save his family despite his wishes to avoid them.

I love that the book has so many diverse characters, and they are all treated equally. No one is punished for their beliefs, preferences, and love interests. These facets are all simply part of the story, not “The” story. White Trash Warlock is an example of how diverse cultures should be written.

The world-building is exceptional. We learn all we need to know without long information dumps. The characters are intriguing and well-defined. Tender moments balance the intense action to give you a chance to catch your breath and the story will definitely keep you turning page after page.

We are drawn into the magical world of elves, gnomes, leprechauns, and more while we travel these realms with Adam. Can he save his family, friends, and the world from the chaos bleeding through the veil? Will he find his place in this melding of two worlds. This must-read novel will satisfy yet leave you craving the next book in the series. I can not wait.

I received a copy of the book for the tour and also purchased a copy for my digital library. The above review is my honest, unbiased opinion.
