Zoo Crew – 12 Pin-Loom Animals to Weave and Love
This 42-page book opens with a wonderful welcome from the author followed by 3 chapters of wonderful instructions and patterns.
Chapter 1 takes you through instructions for weaving a plain weave, 4-inch square on a 3-pin configuration loom. (My preference is the Schacht Zoom Loom. You can find my tutorials and review of the Zoom Loom here.) Chapter 2 includes information on assembly, embellishments, abbreviations used throughout the book, and techniques for joining and shaping your woven squares into the cute, cuddly creatures. Chapter 3 is where you will find the patterns for all 12 animals. Each pattern is well-written and easy to understand. The author has included instructions, charts, and diagrams. There are step-by-step photos demonstrating the pattern steps.
I think you will find Ms. Bagley’s directions thorough, easy to understand, and nicely detailed. Her explanations of the folding, rolling and shaping techniques are fabulous. Once you read her instructions, you will be amazed at how a pile of simple squares becomes delightful critters to cuddle and love.

If you are not a weaver, there is no easier way to learn than on a pin loom. While there are many ways to weave a simple square, my favorite is on a 3-pin configuration loom. Simply lay in 3 quick layers, weave the fourth, and boom…DONE. After you get a little practice in, you will be weaving a square in less than 20 minutes.
If you are already proficient in pin loom weaving, you will be whipping out the most delightful menagerie of cuddly animals in no time at all. Think of the gifts you can make, the little hearts that will burst with joy at playing with something you made for them. The zoo crew make perfect stocking stuffers, are the finishing touch to an Easter basket, make a beloved birthday gift, or simply a gift for someone who needs a hug. Young and old alike love this Zoo Crew.
In conclusion, I highly recommend this book to all crafters.
Every level of crafter will be right at home with the patterns in Deborah Bagley’s Zoo Crew – 12 Pin-Loom Animals to Weave and Love.
