2018 Thanksgiving book list.
Thanksgiving weekend in the USA is a time for remembering, feasting, watching sports and spending time with family and friends. Most of all, it’s a time for reflecting on what we are thankful for in our life.
One of the most gratifying aspects of my life is that I can fill it with books. Therefore, I compiled a list of my favorite Thanksgiving-themed books for you, as well as a few that I can’t wait to read soon.
So without further ado, I present my 2018 Thanksgiving Book List!

Thanksgiving by Janet Evanovich
When Megan Murphy discovered a floppy-eared rabbit gnawing on the hem of her skirt, she meant to give its careless owner a piece of her mind. However, Dr. Patrick Hunter was too attractive to stay mad at for long. Soon the two are making Thanksgiving dinner for their families.
A Ghost at the Table by Suzanne Berne
Strikingly different since childhood and leading dissimilar lives now, sisters Frances and Cynthia have managed to remain “devoted”—as long as they stay on opposite coasts.
When Frances arranges to host Thanksgiving at her rural New England farmhouse, she envisions a happy family reunion, one that will include the sisters’ long-estranged father. Cynthia, however, doesn’t understand how Frances can ignore the past their father’s presence revives, past that includes suspicions about their mother’s death twenty-five years earlier.
Thanksgiving Night by Richard Bausch
The Thanksgiving Visitor by Truman Capote
In this Capote classic, you get A Christmas Memory, One Christmas, and The Thanksgiving Visitor all bundled together for your holiday reading. This masterpiece by the great American writer Truman Capote is suitable for an audience of all ages.
Buddy and his closest friend, his eccentric, elderly cousin, Miss Sook – the memorable characters from Capote’s A Christmas Memory—love preparing their old country house for Thanksgiving. But there’s trouble in the air. Odd Henderson, a scrawny, freckled, red-headed bully makes Buddy the target of his relentless torment. But Miss Sook only counsels patience and understanding, “He can’t help acting ugly; he doesn’t know any different,” she says.
Filled with emotions that are universal to both young readers and adults, this poignant story brings to life what we all should cherish and be thankful for—the gifts of friendship and love.
2018 Thanksgiving Reading List Children’s Books
Thanksgiving is Here! by Diane Goode
Bright and early on Thanksgiving morning, Maggie’s grandparents put the turkey in the oven. The fun and hilarity begin as the guests arrive. There are glamorous aunts, crying babies, acrobatic cousins and much more. The illustrations make this an excellent book for reading together with the family.
The Thankful Book by Todd Parr
The Thankful Book celebrates all the little things for which children can give thanks.
I am thankful for music because it makes me want to dance.
I am thankful for kisses because they make me feel loved.
The Thankful Book is meant to be shared by families around the holidays and throughout the year.
I hope you enjoy this short list of Thanksgiving books. Please share a few of your family favorites.
Happy Thanksgiving to you.
