For fans of Old Man’s War, Starship Troopers, and Forever War comes a gripping story unlike any other.

The war destroyed their planet. Now it’s time for revenge.

20 years after their crushing defeat in the Universal War, the planet Vyndral is a dystopian wasteland. The remnants of the Vyndral Army scavenge through the ashes of the once great planet trying to stay one step ahead of death. On a scouting run, Marden Oswalde discovers a way to reopen the portal to Rafia, their mortal enemy and the cause of the destruction of Vyndral. The invasion of Rafia is as swift as it is brutal. The coastal metropolis of Vyloli falls within hours and thousands are captured.

Vai, a talented hacker, and Edam, a pilot with no past, manage to make their way out of Vyloli with a piece of information that may be the key to freeing the prisoners and saving Rafia. With the fate of their homeworld in the balance, Vai, Edam, and a small band of untested specialists must come together to stop the Vyndral threat. Pulling it off requires extraordinary skill, courage, and ultimately sacrifice. Racing against the clock and facing incredible odds, do they have what it takes?

A small band of young people must find a way to come together as a team to stop a maniac bent on the destruction of the known universe. Through the course of the story the team grows tightly knit and is ultimately successful. Raven, an assassin for the enemy, has a change of heart and joins forces with the team. Her transformation from cold and ruthless killer to caring teammate is a focal point of the story. The metamorphic theme is one of the core components of the work. Vai, the snarky sarcastic kid, becomes a compassionate leader. Sajaler, finds that he can turn the tide in a battle without killing. Marissa learns she has what it takes to do what needs to be done. All the characters come away more mature and surer of themselves. When the dust settles after the crescendo, Cain has been stopped, but Vai and Adam are missing.

My thoughts on Fusion World by Joseph Tamone

Gina Reviews: Fusion World by Joseph Tamone

I thought I would read the opening page or two while on a quick break from writing. Next thing I know, it’s an hour later, so I think I can safely say the book grabbed me in the opening paragraphs.

The world-building skills of Joseph Tamone are exceptional. There are already some extraordinary science fiction worlds in publication, and this book ranks with the best. The characters are well-defined and grow through-out the story. I quickly became invested in their thoughts, actions, and futures.

Perhaps it is just me, but I enjoyed reading a sci-fi, war, intense battle, story that didn’t depend on blood, gore, and raw language to get the point across to the reader. What a refreshing change this is from many books in this genre. Fusion World is by no means a fluff story. It’s gripping, intense, hold your breath, type of book that gets the story told in a well-scripted style.

I love the humor, wit, and sarcasm of the characters in Fusion World. In my opinion, the dialogue is what makes this book a winner.

Now that I have had a taste of this author’s writing, I can’t wait to read more.
