Great job. What man? And murder.

Newly employed at Wedding Wonderland, Hattie Cooks is learning the industry from an expert planner. When her former brother-in-law is found dead in his luxury SUV, all fingers point to Hattie's sister who is planning her own "I dos."

Detective Allan Wellborn is caught between a rock and a hard place--Hattie's family and investigating the murder of a well-connected Sommerville resident, the same loser who was once married to Hattie's sister. Determining who's the bad guy--or gal--isn't going to be easy and sure to piss someone off.

Can Hattie beat the clock to uncover who murdered Jonson before Tracey is charged and her wedding is ruined?

My thoughts on Temporarily Out of Luck by Vicki Batman

This is a fun book with quirky characters. They’ll make you laugh out loud with the antics and situations they get into. Hattie is so relatable, you can’t help but enjoy her story. She has a new job in the wedding industry so her family immediately decides to take advantage of the non-existent perks.

Her mother won’t let up trying to reconcile her with her ex-boyfriend, Det. Allan Wellborn. They are thrown together as maid of honor and best man at her sister’s upcoming wedding, which includes tango lessons for the wedding party. You know hilarity ensues in that situation.

Much to Allan’s dismay, Hattie can’t resist trying to help solve a murder where the main suspect is her sister. I loved the witty banter between all the characters.

Overall, this is a light, entertaining cozy mystery that is sure to delight many readers. I recommend it to anyone looking for a fast read, with a fun cast.

Although I haven’t read the previous books in the Hattie Cooks series I had no trouble following along. I enjoyed Temporarily Out of Luck enough to add books one and two to my reading list.
