My thoughts on Alycat and the Cattywampus Wednesday

Alycat and the Cattywampus Wednesday book cover image

Alycat and the Cattywampus Wednesday is the first book I have read in this series. It works great as a standalone, but I can’t wait to read the other days of the week adventures.

I think this is well suited to the recommended age group. My youngest grandsons loved it. We had some fun conversations about what could possibly be happening to Miss Alycat. They were thrilled with the ending and we immediately had to read it again.

I received a hardcover copy of Alycat and the Cattywampus Wednesday for this tour. The book is sturdy, good quality, and will hold up to small hands and multiple readings. The Illustrations by Chiara Civati are beautiful.

I give this tale my highest children’s book rating of 5 stars. It will make a heartfelt gift for a young child in your life or donate a copy to your library, school, or daycare.

I received a copy of the book for the tour. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

Have your experiences in life helped you to write this book?

This book was written during the pandemic when I felt that the future was ambiguous, and every day felt different than the last. Not knowing when the world would feel “normal” again, I began to wonder how children must feel. They were suddenly pulled from classrooms and their friends with no end in sight.

I found so much comfort in relying on the fact that if I picked up the phone and called, my friends were still there to answer. And my family was still there—just at a distance. We went through each day, taking it one day at a time, and accepted that sometimes a day or year may be cattywampus.

This experience led me to write Alycat and the Cattywampus Wednesday where Alycat is faced with a wacky day and must take it one step at a time. She finds comfort in relying on friends and family and staying positive.
