Awesome Friday Finds | June 25-2021
This week’s finds are for vacation reading, picnics, and entertaining guests. I’m having my first family gathering in almost two years. We are keeping it very small compared to previous ones….only 28 people!
So naturally, this is the week my internet went down and when it came back my router didn’t. That put me behind on blog posts. Before I knew all this was going on, I made a daily commitment to help my granddaughter get to her acting class. Tom had a previous commitment that has kept him busy nonstop for the last two weeks. There’s a reason for that old saying, “when it rains, it pours” (besides for Morton Salt, lol).
Please enjoy this edition of the Friday Finds and I hope to survive the weekend with my sanity intact and be back stronger than ever next week.
I’m going to take a short hiatus from the weekly comment drawing, but I would still love to hear your thoughts on this week’s finds. Tell me, what’s your go-to plan for a low-key family gathering?
Awesome Friday Finds | June 25-2021 – Books
Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey
#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Over two million copies sold! From the Academy Award®–winning actor, an unconventional memoir filled with raucous stories, outlaw wisdom, and lessons learned the hard way about living with greater satisfaction
“I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me.”
The People We Meet on Vacation by Emily Henry
From the New York Times bestselling author of Beach Read comes a sparkling new novel that will leave you with the warm, hazy afterglow usually reserved for the best vacations.
Poppy and Alex. Alex and Poppy. They have nothing in common. She’s a wild child; he wears khakis. She has insatiable wanderlust; he prefers to stay home with a book. And somehow, ever since a fateful car share home from college many years ago, they are the very best of friends. For most of the year they live far apart—she’s in New York City, and he’s in their small hometown—but every summer, for a decade, they have taken one glorious week of vacation together.
Until two years ago, when they ruined everything. They haven’t spoken since.
What the Road Said by Cleo Wade
What the Road Said is the New York Times-bestselling comforting and uplifting picture book from bestselling poet and activist Cleo Wade.
Which way do I go?
That is your choice to make,
said the Road.
But what if I go the wrong way?
The Road curved a little,
almost as if it was giving me a hug, and said,
Do not worry. Sometimes we go the wrong way on our
way to the right way.
