Excerpt

His wings fell over his face to hide his sad eyes, for Patroosh was ready to say his goodbyes. “Farewell fish scraps, goodbye stolen fries.”

SWOOSH SWOOSH was the sound as Seamus turned around, soaring in graciously until his feet hit the ground. Patroosh peaked through a feather of his wing, thinking,

‘What’s this pesky seagull up to? Prancing around like a king?’

Seamus got to work, trying to set Patroosh’s legs free. He used his beak, his claws, and shells, and whatever else he could see.

“WHOOPEE, I’m free! Hang on a second, why did you help me?” Patroosh asked Seamus.

“Being trapped in rubbish would’ve given you a fright, so I only did what I thought was right,” said Seamus.

My thoughts on Patroosh, the Cheeky Pelican

I love a fun, well-illustrated children’s book that has subtle lessons for readers of all ages. Patroosh, the Cheeky Pelican is just such a book.

With a storyline that teaches about selfishness, kindness, forgiveness, and good deeds, this tale is perfect.

There is even a good conversation starter about the dangers of trash and debris in the water.

The illustrations/sketches are beautifully done by Edward Box. The bright colors will capture everyone’s attention.

This lovely book is a wonderful addition to every library. I can’t wait to read it to my grandchildren. They will love it!
