Book Review – The Adventures of Fawn: ‘Til the Last Snowflake Falls
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Synopsis:
Fantastic! Fun-tastic! Fawn-tastic!! The Adventures of Fawn series is an exciting, award-winning ‘coming of age’ tale! The year is 1849, and legendary reindeer Comet and Vixen have a young daughter, Fawn. This first book, ‘Til the Last Snowflake Falls, has also won a number of awards on its own.
In this first installment, the young reindeer spends far too many days alone in the stable at Santa’s Village, with no friends and nothing to do. While her parents caution her she’s much too young and inexperienced to go exploring outside the Village by herself, Fawn disagrees. Declaring, “I want some fun and excitement! I don’t care how dangerous it is!” she begins sneaking out each day in search of friends, excitement, and adventure. She’ll find them all…but also find herself in dangerous situations she’s unprepared for!
She’ll realize perhaps a bit too late that mom and dad were right all along! And, she’ll learn some valuable lessons about what’s really important in life. The Adventures of Fawn are filled with fun, laughs, excitement, and magical entertainment for readers of all ages! ‘Til the Last Snowflake Falls was awarded the Bronze Medal in Dan Poynter’s 2017 Global E-book Awards, received an Honoree Medallion from indieB.R.A.G. Awards, a Reader’s Favorite Five Star Award, and One Stop Fiction Books’ Five Star Award.
My Book Review – The Adventures of Fawn: ‘Til the Last Snowflake Falls by Al E. Boy
The Adventures of Fawn: Til the Last Snowflake Falls is my new favorite Christmas book. It has everything needed to become a Holiday classic. The characters are magical. Dr. Mary Weather has lost her Christmas spirit. With the help of Fawn, Snowboy, Bunny, and the others, that spirit is revived and thriving once more.
Captain Kemp and Higgins represent all that’s wrong with the world: greed, meanness, avarice, lies, and more. Santa, Wajik, Mary, and the animals work together to revive, Snowboy, as well as the flagging Christmas spirit.
I recommend this delightful story to readers of all ages. I can’t wait to read the story of Fawn and friends to my grandchildren, along with the sequels.
Kudos to the author for such a heartwarming story!
Al E. Boy is an English teacher, originally from Canada, but currently residing in Seoul, South Korea.
Through almost 40 years as a Santa Claus, Al E. Boy developed quite a repertoire of tales to explain and answer the many questions children ask about Santa, the North Pole, his reindeer, and his friends, the elves.
It was this collection of tales that prompted him to begin writing The Adventures of Fawn. Through the young daughter of legendary reindeer Comet and Vixen, he’s been able to weave an exciting, colorful, imaginative world that will delight readers of all ages!
Mr. Boy not only hopes you enjoy these tales but make reading them part of your Christmas traditions, as well.
An Interview with author Al E. Boy:
How long have you been writing?
I started writing back in 2014 at the ripe old age of 59. I’d made attempts at it before but was finally able to see my way through to complete a project then.
How do you choose your character names?
It’s more a case of whimsy than anything deliberately planned. I usually try to find something that comes off as amusing or interesting.
What inspired you to write in this genre?
I’ve been a ‘Santa Claus’ since 1976. The many stories and explanations I concocted over the decades to answer children’s queries about the ‘man in red’, Mrs. Claus, the elves, workshops, reindeer, North Pole, etc. inspired me to write the trilogy. It was a way to amalgamate all of the different stories into one cohesive storyline.
If an author fictionalized your life, in which genre would the story belong?
Historical fiction 9 😉
Do you have a set writing schedule?
No. When I have a project going I write at every possible opportunity. And when I’m not at my keyboard, I’m probably making ‘memo’ notes on my phone for things to write later.
Do you need silence to write, or can you work in any environment?
Silence is best for me.
If you could set up your perfect writing scenario, what would it involve?
Just my computer, a dictionary and a thesaurus close by. Oh…and maybe a snack or two.
What is your most unusual writing quirk?
I don’t know that I have one. Perhaps my obsessive approach to getting it all down and done, and then doing countless re-writes until I’m happy with the finished product.
Do you usually arrive early, on time, or late?
Always a few minutes early.
If you could form the ultimate writer’s group, which authors past or present would you invite to join you?
Shakespeare, Marlowe, Donne, Dickens, Atworth, Falkner (Moonfleet), Clavell, Twain, the Bronte sisters.
Do you have a favorite snack or beverage while you are writing?
Potato chips and cold water.
Which three words best describe you?
Diligent, humorous, and knowledgeable.
Is there anything you would like my readers to know about you and your book?
Just like the message in my children’s trilogy, The Adventures of Fawn, I feel friendship, trust, love, and the feeling of inclusiveness in a community are of paramount importance.
