The past isn't over, it's an opening; the future isn't hidden, it's a trap. If she ever wants to see him again, she'll have to take the risk. When offered a one-way trip to the past, Iz sacrifices everything for a chance to change her dystopian future—and see her murdered lover one last time.
After a perilous journey through a black hole, she wakes up on a tropical beach, buck-naked and mortally wounded—but twenty years younger! With only hours to live, she must convince an enraptured but skeptical twenty-something guy to fix their future relationship and thereby save the planet (no one is quite sure why.) But it's easier said than done, as success means losing him to a brainy, smart-mouthed bombshell (her younger self), and that's a heartbreaker, save the world or not. Across the infinite expanse of space and time, love endures...(Unfortunately, it’s not going to be enough.)
FALL INTO THIS EDGY, action-packed, darkly comedic, dystopian love story, and be prepared to encounter a finicky time machine, a mysterious seashell, and a very clever dog (some sex, some swearing, some violence, but no vampires and absolutely no ditzes.)
Race against the clock through a dystopian nightmare. Climb naked into an untested time machine (carrying only a seashell and a promise). Wake up twenty years younger on a tropical beach, buck naked and mortally wounded, with your heart in your throat.
This is a journey of love, loss, and redemption that will make your pulse gallop and your palms sweat, have you laughing out loud through your tears, and leave you flush with the sublime pleasure of falling in love.

My thoughts on Crossing in Time by D.L. Orton:
I first read and reviewed Crossing in Time back in 2018. It’s still just a gripping and entertaining now as it was then.
Crossing in Time, Book 1 of the Between Two Evils series is a thrilling start to the series. What is not to love in this storyline? A time machine, a dystopian future mixed up with alternate universes, love stories, government conspiracies, and a jerk ex-husband all add to the drama. I could go on & on about how the author pulls this all together into a cohesive story….but that would just delay the time until you are reading the book. Go get this book NOW! I’ll wait till you get back before I go on.
Back already?
Well, now that that chore is out of the way, let’s move on. Isabel and Diego are the main characters. They have a past and on the day they meet after years apart, the world nearly comes to an end. The story jumps around through time a little, but I never had trouble keeping it straight. It is definitely strange to be reading about a world undergoing all the turmoil, stress, rebellions, and a pandemic when our current world situation is frighteningly similar.
It ‘s difficult to describe this book without offering too much detail and spoiling it for you. The story touched me in ways I can’t explain. There is the underlying love story, the urgency of solving problems, and righting wrongs before it’s too late. I like the strong female lead, even if I want to shake her at times. I literally yelled out loud at both leads to get their head out of their arse and take care of business.
The author does a great job of building the worlds needed for this story. When I learned in the opening pages that the local dystopian world is ruled by a despot in an armchair from a Walmart parking lot, I was hooked. For such a unique, thrilling, adventure book, I found the humor to be an added bonus.
So I’m going to just wrap this up with, your need to read this book and block out a little time because you are going to want to binge right into the rest of the series right away.

You, Gina Rae, are the reason I (continue) to write books. Seriously. Every time I read a review that says the book is too hard to follow or the characters are 2-dimensional or the reader liked the love story but not the science (or liked the science but not the love story, lol), I pull up a handful of reviews and read them again. And then I get back to the business of finishing the series.
Please tell me you are signed up for my mailing list (so you’ll get an ARC of book 4 this fall)?
Thank you so much for reading (again) and reviewing (again!). ?
