Friday Finds April 16, 2021
Welcome to the Friday Finds. I’m so happy you stopped by.
This week we went out to lunch with friends. That sounds so incredible to say those words. It was a fabulous afternoon spent in a large outdoor beer garden with great food, wonderful friends, and an insane amount of laughter. We’ve all four had our vaccines and wore our masks through the restaurant to reach the garden, so we felt very safe. I can’t wait to do it again!
I’m still hoping for more comments on the Friday Finds posts, so a larger number of people are entered into the drawing. Did you notice last week’s winner, Carol hanging out on my sidebar this week? She chose to be the featured blogger of the week. Please go take a look at her blog. It is so lovely. Leave a comment on this post by noon next Thursday to enter the drawing to win a spot as a featured author, featured blogger, or even a gift card.
Last week’s offer to hook up authors with readers went well. It was pointed out to me that authors cannot “require” an Amazon review in exchange for a free copy of their book. I believe common courtesy says you should leave a review somewhere for every book, but especially one gifted to you by the author. There are still free books on offer in last week’s comments, and check back here for more offers this week.
Chika is the winner of today’s random number drawing from among commenters. She is the Featured Author in my BookShop for the next week. Please go take a peek at her books. She writes unique short-story collections.
Would you like to have your website, blog, or book featured on my website sidebar? Leave me a comment or use the contact me form to let me know, and I’ll send you the information.
Thanks so much for checking out today’s finds. I’ll be waiting to chat with you in the comment section at the bottom of the post.
Friday Finds April 16, 2021 – Books
I don’t normally list pre-orders here, but Outlander 9, Go Tell the Bees That I am Gone by Dianna Gabaldon is available for preorder. It’s been so long; I’ll have to re-read at least Written in My Own Heart’s Blood. I used to reread the entire series before a new release, but I can quote the earlier books nearly verbatim, so I’ll pass on that this time. If you’ve always wanted to give the series a try, now is a great time. You can catch up before the new release. I will say I have tried repeatedly to enjoy the tv series, but the characters don’t match up well with the way I have them in my head. I am definitely a “read the book” person. Game of Thrones is another series where I loved the books, but not so much on the television version. (Click on each picture to learn more)
What is your favorite book series? Do you re-read previous editions before you start the newest?

Friday Finds April 16, 2021 – Recipe
I used to make this as a full sheet pan dessert to take to parties and dinners. Do you remember when we used to have those? I can’t wait to get back to hosting a big dinner for family & friends. Someday…right? I might try to make them in this style instead. It would be less mess, more individual, and adjustable for the number of guests you have.

Hi Gina, the meeting with your friends sounds amazing!! Hope you can do it more now.
I’ve stopped reading the Outlander series halfway through Drums of Autumn but I really really want to continue one day! And I’ve only watched the trailer but I imagined the mc sooo differently. Might still give it a try though, we’ll see
This doesn’t have anything to do with any of the books you’ve listed, Gina, but I’ve been sharing this story with many writing groups on Facebook this morning and thought I would paste in the link for your readers as well. This is an outstanding article from the NY Post a couple of years ago about a man’s extraordinary efforts to save premature babies back when they were typically just left to die: https://nypost.com/…/how-fake-docs-carnival-sideshow…/
Hi Gina!
Hope you’re doing fine. I was very excited to learn that I was a featured author in your bookshop, next week. I enjoy reading your Friday Finds because of the featured books one could easily purchase.
I love one of the books featured. Mersey Mistress by Sheila Riley. Would get the kindle version. You’re doing very great in celebrating Indie Authors. The cancer awareness book tour is a wonderful idea in helping those so diagnosed to fight the disease.
You’re the best Gina. Well done!
Chika.
Great finds this week!! I love those baby sugar cookie fruit pizzas! The knit hat is really pretty. I don’t wear hats, but I might have to make one for the charity pile. I haven’t read or watched Outlander but I am afraid I’m missing out. Lol.
Great blog post! I can’t wait for parties either. It’s been a long time.
I agree that reviews should be left for books when the author “gifts” a copy, but sadly, not everyone will leave a review. There isn’t much authors can do since we aren’t allowed to require reviews.
Thank you so much for sharing Janelle’s book! We are so grateful for all you do for authors! Thank you!
Lovely post. I tweeted it and will tell my friends to watch for amazing book deals.
Thanks so much, Eve. You are a doll!
Thanks for featuring me! 🙌😍
