It’s been a fun week around here. Reading, blogging, and craft planning have dominated my time. In case you missed the big news…I published my 1,000th blog post this week. You can read more about it here: Celebrating 1000 Blog Posts! Join me for a look at the beginning.
I also felt inspired to create a giveaway. I’ll add the link below but there are multiple ways to earn entries and you’re encouraged to enter as many ways as you want.
What are you reading this week? Won’t you please share in the comments? Let’s see if we can get a book discussion going. If books aren’t your thing, I’ll be happy to discuss crafts and food, too.
I’m so thrilled you are reading today’s post. It makes writing these Friday Finds much more fun when I know you are enjoying them. Now let’s move on to the Friday Finds.

Friday Finds | 17 June 2022 | Book Finds
These are a few of the books that caught my attention this week. Have you read them or would you like to?
Pink is Not a Color by Lindsay Ward
Pink finds happiness right where she always knew it was in this colorful companion to the popular picture book This Book Is Gray.
Pink loves her rosy world, from her pink toy dinosaur to her pet flamingo, Phil. But when she sees the Primaries and Secondaries getting ready for the Rainbow Extravaganza, she begins to wonder why she isn’t in the rainbow…and if that means she’s not really a color. Then she meets the Tints, and she’s even more confused. Luckily, a friend shows her the many ways she spreads joy―reminding Pink that she is truly one of a kind, rainbow or not.
Featuring the world of colors introduced in This Book Is Gray―and a few new color concepts―this is a tale about appreciating who you are and realizing that only you can decide what makes you happy.

The Brighter the Light by Mary Ellen Taylor
From the bestselling author of Honeysuckle Season comes an evocative dual-timeline novel detailing one woman’s journey to discover the hidden stories of her family’s seaside resort.
When a shipwreck surfaces, old secrets are sure to follow.
Or so goes the lore in Ivy Neale’s hometown of Nags Head, North Carolina. When Ivy inherits her family’s beachfront cottage upon her grandmother’s death, she knows returning to Nags Head means facing the best friend and the boyfriend who betrayed her years ago.
But then a winter gale uncovers the shipwreck of local legend―and Ivy soon begins to stumble across more skeletons in the closet than just her own. Amid the cottage’s clutter are clues from her grandmother’s past at the enchanting seaside resort her family once owned. One fateful summer in 1950, the arrival of a dazzling singer shook the staff and guests alike―and not everyone made it to fall.
As Ivy contends with broken relationships and a burgeoning romance in the present, the past threatens to sweep her away. But as she uncovers the strength of her grandmother and the women who came before her, she realizes she is like the legendary shipwreck: the sands may shift around her, but she has found her home here by the sea.

Wade Garrison: The Last Ride by Richard Greene
Wade Garrison was tried and acquitted for murder and then shot in the chest in the courtroom by a friend of the man Wade was accused of killing. Going in and out of a coma for days, Wade promised God that if he would let him have more time with his wife Sarah, and their children, he would never pick up a gun, or kill another man as long as he lived.
A year has passed since that fateful day, and Wade has kept his promise to both God and Sarah. While he missed the life of a United States Marshal, Wade Garrison was happy with his simple life on his ranch near the small town of Harper, Colorado.
All that changed when three men robbed the Harper Bank killing his old friend Sheriff Harry Block. When asked to help track down the three men, recover the money, and bring them back for justice, he refused saying, “I don’t do that anymore.” Thinking the town and his son would think him a coward, Wade searched for a way out of his promise to God.

The BBNYA 2022 awards are underway. The first round of excerpts are in the hands of the panelists. Panelists have until July 11th to read & score the excerpts. Quick Strawberry Bread with Glaze from TastesofLizzieT
Since strawberries are so abundant around this area, I have been searching for new ways to use them. Doesn’t this look delicious?

Southern Tomato Cracker Salad from The Southern Lady Cooks
My daughter used to make a BLT dip to serve on crackers. It was delicious and very similar to this recipe.
Since fiber arts are my go-to craft, sometimes my Crafty Finds run a little too much to yarn for everyone’s tastes. This kit looks like it would be a winner for kids and adults alike.

The Brighter Than Light book looks fantastic.
Congrats on your 1000th post! Wow. Very impressive.
I was going to reply with a book, but my brain can’t get passed the strawberry
loaf! It looks scrumptious!!
Thanks so much, Piroska! I hope to make the strawberry loaf soon. It does look delicious!
I love your Friday Finds posts, Gina!! Congrats on 1000 posts!
I was just surprised that I had not followed you before on Goodreads.
Congrats on 1000 posts. Love your posts on food, recipes, crafts, books, giveaways and so much more including Friday finds.
Hoping I Win
Gina – congrats!!! Although I’m going crazy with trying to sell my house and move at the moment … a process that’s been fraught with unbelievable complications … have chiseled off a few minutes each day to read Henry Roth’s “Call it Sleep”. I’d read this spectacular novel many years ago but my copy had completely disintegrated, so when I discovered one in a used book store last month, I immediately gobbled it up.
Thanks so much, Mim. Good luck with the house sale & move. I’ll be sure to check out that novel.
Hi Gina! Congratulations on the 1000th blog post and for all of your success! I should have gotten more into blogging over the years because being an author alone just hasn’t cut it for me. I guess where I lack though is that I love writing and telling stories, but I lack in the reading department. Right now I have 3 books on my Goodreads “currently reading” list that have been there for, well, months. The books are: Creative Collaborations: How to Form Lasting and Lucrative Partnerships without Being Smarmy by Kirsten Oliphant; Book Reviews: Understanding the Psychology Behind Them and How to Get Readers to Leave a Review by Kelly Santana-Banks; and Are We Nuts? by Gisela Hausmann. I should really get reading them but I find myself doing other things instead. At least I finally signed up to be affiliates for several different programs, so that has helped.
Thank you so much for all you do for authors, readers, crafters, etc. I look forward to your Friday email every week!
Thanks so much, Jessica! Affiliate income can be a game changer, but it takes much more work than I usually devote to it. I’m just the opposite. I would rather read a book than do anything else!
In author news, Gemini Divided was a finalist for the National Indie Excellence Awards in the Suspense category!
That’s awesome news, Lauren! Congrats!
