Friday Finds for 3 June 2022 | Let’s talk books, berries, family, author news, crafts, & more!
Hello, my friends & welcome to the Friday Finds for 3 June 2022
What a fabulous holiday weekend we had here on the farm. The girls and their families were here most of the weekend. The kids played, swam, picked fruits & veggies in the garden, and enjoyed each others’ company like they haven’t been able to do in a long time. I also got the chance to read & snuggle with the little ones. Miss L and I continued our cooking together. We’ve done this since she was a tiny tot. She’s now taller than me! You have to make the most of these times while you can.
I’m planning to make a trip with a friend to a fiber festival today. I hope it works out as planned. It should help me regain that knitting/weaving mojo that you can read about below in the craft section.
Do you have anything special going on in your life? Drop me a comment below and let’s chat about you for a change.
Peace,

These are a few of the books that caught my attention this week. Have you read them or would you like to?

Friday Finds | 3 June 2022 | Recipes
I found myself with an overabundance of brussels sprouts this week, so I turned to my trusty Pinterest to find something new to do with them. I normally simply slice them in half, put them on a sheet pan, drizzle them with olive oil & some seasonings, then bake. This recipe sounds delicious & healthy to me.
Italian Chopped Brussels Sprouts Salad From Ambitious Kitchen
I’ve also had lots of fresh strawberries from the garden. The whole family enjoyed them over the holiday weekend, but now it’s back to just two of us in the house again. I’ve made quite a bit of my easy 3-ingredient strawberry jam. The recipe was in the weekly email today. (If you aren’t on that email list, you don’t know what you might miss.) I wanted something a little different and came across this recipe for Watermelon Berry Salad with Mint Dressing from Crowded Kitchen. Doesn’t it look like a summer delight?
In crafty news this week… I finished the sweater! It started as a baby sweater here. I am ashamed to admit that baby is now a 3-year-old toddler. Obviously, I had to start over and resize it…twice. But it’s done and he loves it. Hopefully, I have my knitting mojo back since his older brother has requested one in bright rainbow colors.
Baby & Child Sophisticate Sweater
This is the finished sweater before it was blocked & washed. Always, always wash & block your work. I’ll have more on that in a future post.

One of my favourite weekly posts! Sounds like you had a great holiday weekend.
When I saw fiber festival I thought it was to do with nutrition but the knitting comment made me realise it must be a yarn thing! Sounds really good fun. And the cardigan is gorgeous!
Thanks, Sabina. I didn’t realize how much I would throw everyone with the “fiber festival”. It was a lovely day full of every type of yarn, fleece, etc. And the angora rabbits are so adorable.
Once upon a time, I tried to grow strawberries and they ended up the size of my pinky nail!
I never tried again hahaha!
It was definitely fun though and they’re one of my favorite fruits.
Thanks for the tag and mention 💖
You are welcome, Esther. The first year’s growth is always small if you even get berries. You should try again! I froze some too to enjoy this winter.
Hi Gina
It’s wonderful to read your current issue of Friday Finds. I sure love the strawberry jam recipe and would try it out.
Best,
Chika
Let me know if you try it, Chika. Thanks for reading!
I have to admit I’d pick strawberries over brussel sprouts any day, but your post makes everything look awesome!
Thanks, Eve. I’m with you on the berries over Brussels.
Hi Gina,
I totally forgot to tell you my news for this week! Maybe you can include it next week. Or maybe I could be the author of the week. That would be so fun! I will send you an email with my news!
Have a great weekend!
Hope that you and Cheryl have a ball today.
Thanks! We did enjoy ourselves immensely.
