It was a very slow week for me on the blog. I've been working on lots of things behind the scenes. I also had a few blog tours scheduled, but the dates were changed. Look out next week!

📣 Meet Indie Author ~ R. Weir

R. Weir author leaning on a fence post in front of a weeded pond with hair pulled back and a dark shirt

Author R Weir lives in the Mile-High City with his family, where the Rocky Mountain High isn’t always achieved with herbal substances. When he’s not glued to the computer writing his latest book or recording his podcast, Bringing Life to Characters, you’ll find him outdoors, traveling in his motorhome, or riding his Spyder motorcycle.

Weir’s stories dive deep into gritty mysteries, crime, suspense, and thrilling twists. His characters include former U.S. Marshal Hunter Divine—a driven man seeking salvation in a broken life—and private eye Jarvis Mann, a tough, snarky investigator with as many faults as virtues.

You’ll find traces of Weir’s dry sense of humor in his characters, though he’ll admit he’s not nearly as tough or fearless. Still, no evil stands a chance against his written word!

I've reviewed several of his books already (and need to make time for more!). His wit and hard-boiled characters have definitely won me over as a fan.

🍴 Foodie Fun

Food Part - Dessert Part Kindle Quote - Zell from Vampires and Villains by Elizabeth Pantley
This is one of my favorite quotes from my re-read of the Magical Mystery Book Club series. It sparked a fun conversation about how many stomachs a person needs. One of my grandsons says at least three. Food Stomach, Dessert Stomach, and Popcorn Stomach! Another claims there is always room for ice cream because it fills in the gaps between the food. They are brilliant. I'm gonna steal this from them, for sure.
What's the one food you are never too full to eat?
I'm not gonna lie. Mine is dessert. That must be where the grandkids get it! Which is also why I usually start this section with a dessert.
Red, white, Blue 4th of July dessert - Pioneer Woman
This festive 4th of July dessert is as easy as it is eye-catching, thanks to layers of whipped cream, fresh berries, and cake. It's light, sweet, and perfect for patriotic celebrations. (from The Pioneer Woman)

Chef John's Classic Boston Baked Beans in a crock sitting beside a dish of cornbread

This is what baked beans are all about. We love baked beans as a side dish. They seem to pair well with many recipes on our weekly menu.

  1. I'm never too full to eat chocolate! I would want to create a firework for Firefighter Fox's book. Our local firefighters are always on standby during the annual fireworks display so it would be cool to have a firework named after firefighters!
