Welcome to this week’s edition, where as usual, I am all over the place. Halloween recipe – check. Christmas Story – check. Everything else – check. I sure do hate to be pinned down to just one category! Thank goodness for the Friday Finds where I can blog about everything on my mind. The rest of the week may be mostly books, but Fridays are for all my reader’s varied interests.

Gotcha! Inside Trump’s 2020 Campaign by Ed Weinberger
Nine-time Emmy Award-winning writer/producer Ed. Weinberger, known for his work on such legendary comedies as The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Taxi, and The Cosby Show, imagines an alternate Trump 2020 presidential campaign in this hilarious new novel.
In GOTCHA! Weinberger creates a chaotic world inhabited by America’s 45th President where cheating at golf is taken for granted; Fox anchors are valued advisors; and hydroxychloroquine is promoted as a COVID-19 cure.
Spanning the critical period from March 5, 2020 to January 24, 2021, GOTCHA! takes readers into Trump’s private world as he meets with his re-election committee, has a hush-hush dinner with Laura Ingraham, makes an angry early-morning call to Don, Jr., and asks Melania whether his bullet-proof vest makes him look fat. Trump tries to rush through a COVID-19 vaccine; attempts to build rapport with African Americans; and even gets away with shooting a protester on Fifth Avenue—an incident applauded by the NRA.
With an entertaining mix of fiction and satire, this provocative novel looks into the corrupt, three-ring-circus that is Washington in the new normal.
The Adventures of Fawn: The Ona Pendulum by Al E. Boy
The Ona Pendulum is the exciting, award-winning second installment in The Adventures of Fawn series! It’s actually two books in one, as Fawn and her friends not only find themselves on a rescue mission to save a magical device, but also witness the beginnings of the legend of Santa himself.
Fawn and her companions must stop an evil former elf Princess from destroying The Ona Pendulum, a device that enables Santa, Wajic, the elves and reindeer to live for hundreds of years. The citizens of Santa’s Village…and Christmas itself… are all in great danger!
The Ona Pendulum is an exciting, fun-filled adventure for children of all ages!
In My Attic by Lina Hansen
Sometimes all it takes is murder to discover who you truly are.
Grammar school teacher Myrtle Coldron has no patience to spare for Aunt Eve’s Wiccan shenanigans. Myrtle ignores auntie’s frantic plea for help—only to learn she has crashed from the attic to her death. The circumstances are suspicious; murder is on the cards. Riddled with guilt, Myrtle returns to the Witch’s Retreat, Eve’s beloved Bed and Breakfast, to sleuth for the truth. No such luck.
The sleepy, historic village sheltering the B+B also hides a mystery. Soon enough, Myrtle is besieged by a zany posse of suspects, nightly visitors in the attic, threatening notes—and a zombie primula with a mind of its own.
Somebody is out to get her, and it will take all her skills—including those she doesn’t care for—to keep Myrtle alive.

The case gets dropped on Curtis Westcott’s desk, but Boston’s Chief of Homicide has little to work with. No clues, no body, no motive.
Boomerville at Ballymegille by Caroline James

The Ticklemore Christmas Toy Shop by Liz Davies
There is a disturbance in the force and octogenarian Hattie Jenkins can feel it in her water. Still active and spritely, she guesses that the miserable-looking gentleman sitting morosely in the café where she works might be the reason. Widowed Alfred Miller has recently moved in with his daughter because she is worried that he’s becoming too frail and forgetful to look after himself. And he’s not in the least bit happy about it, especially since his home is soon be cleared and sold. But when he enlists Hattie’s help to save some of his precious belongings, he doesn’t realize that Hattie’s mission is to save more than a few sticks of furniture. She’s on a mission to save him, too.

Hmmm…you say that book about the president is FICTION? Sounds pretty realistic to me! 🙂 Thanks for the good book recommendations. I need some more good reads.
Thanks for stopping by Laurie. The author wrote for Johnny Carson & several popular tv shows. I think he pulled actual events and fictionalized behind the scenes conversations. And of course the actual election aftermath is fiction….I hope. I’ve got a full review coming up soon.
