My thoughts on How Did I Get Here?
Andrew Fitzgerald’s memoir “How Did I Get Here?: Traveling The Road To Resilience” is a captivating and unique account of his life so far. The book starts off with Andrew’s death – not once, but twice – a clear indication that readers are in for an exciting ride.
One of the enjoyable aspects of the book is its unique writing style. Andrew tells his life story by dividing it into different sections and linking each section to various aspects of his life. This allows readers to focus on his experiences during specific periods, resulting in a deeper understanding of his character.
The book’s structure, combined with its short chapters, makes it a fast and engaging read. The pages turn quickly, making it hard to put the book down.
Throughout the book, readers will be inspired by Andrew’s resilience, dedication to truth, care for others, and his unwavering commitment to giving his best effort in everything he does.

Hope
A four-letter word that is easy to spell, is easy to pronounce and conjures up so much, however, it is different to every person in terms of their situations and their own view on what hope is.
In my book, “How Did I Get Here? -Traveling The Road to Resilience” the concept of hope runs throughout the narrative about my life.
The hope I would wake up after flatlining twice, the hope that I could move country and make it a success, the hope that I could negotiate the launch of some new beverage brands, the hope that I would play well the day I stood on the 1st tee to play golf with Padraig Harrington a three time major golf champion and the hope that one day I would be a father after the grief and loss of four miscarriages that we suffered.
Each time I called on, and relied on hope to keep me spirts high, to stay focused and to keep moving forward. However, even at times of moving forward, hope dragged me backwards as “I hoped that the downtimes would pass, and I would survive and thrive through the pain.”
Without hope is a famous line in the movies and I guess it rings through as we all need to cling to something to feel connected to something we can’t see, feel, or touch but we believe in the power of hope. When my son was born, my hope was rewarded. That day in 2019 was the day for me that hope revealed itself, bringing new life into the world and now my son will develop his own, hopes, dreams and aspirations, My hope for you is that you see the value having hope in your life will bring and develop the ability that there is always hope in any situation.
