"Mae Turns Five" is the third segment of the planned five-book series known as "the Mae Books" and is a celebration of our loveable preschooler.

In this adventure, Mae celebrates her birthday in grand style! Old friends and new ones join her on this special day where Mae learns a "valuable" lesson.

Put on your party clothes, grab a slice of cake and settle in as you read this story in limerick style.

Don't forget to find the quirky owl hidden throughout the pages!

My thoughts on Mae Turns Five

Mae Turns Five by Wanda Etheridge book cover image

The Mae Books follow our precocious pre-schooler through her everyday life. In the third book, Mae is celebrating her fifth birthday with a fabulous party.

The story looks at diversity through the eyes of a youngster. They don’t care about the color of someone’s skin or the amount of money the family has. They care about their friends, what clothes they like, and the toys they play with.

The author shows diversity by comparing colors of clothing and presents, as well as depicting children of all colors, creeds, and abilities. If only the real world could see each other through children’s eyes.

This book is divinely illustrated by Whimsical Design by CJ. On turning each page, the colors and rhymes pop out at you. The font used makes this book especially easy for early readers.

I highly recommend Mae Turns Five to all homes, schools, churches, and libraries.

I received a digital copy of the book from the author or publisher to review. This is my honest, unbiased opinion.

About Wanda Etheridge

Wanda Etheridge Author Profile image

Wanda Etheridge enjoys poetry and wanted to tell stories using her favorite style - the limerick! As she enters the world of indie authors, she has chosen this light and whimsical format to create her books.

Wanda currently has over 20 years of service in the federal government and has spent 13 years with a municipal law enforcement agency; she has even been a Chief of Police!

Wanda has a passion for world travel and has visited over 40 countries. Until now, she has only written in her spare time (she has been working on a crime fiction novel for about 25 years for fun) but has discovered creating children’s books is her passion and hopes to write stories her grandchildren want to read as they get older.

"The Funny List" is the first in the series to be known as the Mae books. "Mae's Big Adventure" came out in March 2021 and Mae Turns Five is available in June 2022; enjoy!
