Thoughts on My Heart is Hurting
Sometimes, the more a book grabs you, the harder it is to put your feelings into words. Maybe it’s because you connect with it too deeply, or maybe there’s just so much to say that it all gets tangled up in your head. That’s exactly how I feel about My Heart is Hurting. But I’ll do my best.
First, the writing is flawless. There is no awkward phrasing or typos—just smooth, compelling storytelling that kept me hooked from start to finish. The pacing is spot on.
And the story? Wow. Jinny Buffet’s life is just one blow after another, and yet she keeps pushing forward. The “ super smart white trash girl” trope might sound cliche, but in S.E. Reed’s hands, it feels raw, authentic, and impossible to look away from. I felt every moment of her despair, every sliver of hope, and by the time I reached the end, I just sat there, letting it all sink in with tears running down my face.
The themes of addiction, human trafficking, and the struggles of children caught in the chaos are heartbreakingly relevant. This isn’t just a story; it’s a cry to renew your empathy.
I sincerely hope you will give this book a chance. I promise you won’t come away unaffected.
