Traveling south did not go as smoothly as I’d hoped. Nothing serious or major happened, just inconveniences. My phone died a horrible and painful death in Georgia, so by the time we crossed the Florida state line, I was going into withdrawal. I am now the proud owner of a brand new phone. A word of caution for you, if you are buying new devices away from home, be prepared for fraud alerts and red flags. They weren’t difficult to deal with, and everyone was super helpful, but it is a time-consuming process.

This is a very long-winded way to tell you, I didn’t get a lot done on the book review front before Thanksgiving was upon me. Hopefully, I’ll do better next week!

This week on the website!

November 29, 2019 Friday FindsReview: Confessions by Rich Kisielewski - Blog graphic

Confessions by Rich Kisielwski is a unique story. We learn on the opening page who the killer is, but the mystery is in why he kills and can anyone stop him. Confessions is an excellent psychological thriller. I hope you will read my review.

The Woodsman & The Moonlit Curse by Tiber Wakenshaw

Deep in the heart of the vast Norwegian wilderness, Jonaten Henriksøn yearns for more than a life of working as a woodsman with his Pa. Ever since he could remember, Jon had known that he wasn’t like the others in his village, for on the most silent of nights, when the trees sway gently in the breeze; he was certain that he could hear the woods whispering. neXt by Lance Manion

A collection of short stories isn’t really a book. It’s more like dozens of ideas that could have been books if they were thought of by someone with a better attention span. To put it another way, if you took an infinite number of Shakespeare’s and put them in front of an infinite number of typewriters with an infinite amount of time, they still wouldn’t come up with the complete works of Lance Manion. To put it yet another way, you throw down manure to feed crops. Just imagine this book as manure (not too great a stretch), and your imagination is the crops. If you don’t understand this metaphor, then this book probably isn’t for you. Humorous Short Stories

The Trumpet Lesson: A Novel by Diane Romaine

Fascinated by a young woman’s performance of “The Lost Child” in Guanajuato’s central plaza, painfully shy expatriate Callie Quinn asks the woman for a trumpet lesson — and ends up confronting her longing to know her own lost child. When Callie became pregnant in 1960s rural Missouri over thirty years ago, her outraged father, with her mother’s acquiescence, insisted that no one know—and Callie complied. She went away, and she gave up her baby. She did it to protect the baby’s father—a black teen—from the era’s racist violence. Literary Fiction
