Stairway to Heaven by Alex StevensSeries: Ballad of Fallen Angels Book #2
Published by Independent on October 4, 2022
Genres: Fiction, Fantasy
Format: eBook, Paperback
Corporal Jack Graven should be dead. Murdered by a vengeful angel at his own father's funeral, Jack is resurrected and returns to life carrying a terrible secret: he is the Archangel Gabriel reincarnated.
Jack's not the only one with secrets. His older brother, Lieutenant Colonel Tyler Graven "Demon of Kyoto", has just inherited his father's fortune and legacy as Lord of War, with no intention of stopping there: Tyler will someday rule the world.
The brothers reunite their elite military unit, “The Four Horsemen,” with Tyler’s longtime flame Colonel Diana Levitas and the mysterious Lance Corporal Jin Xialong. Together they seek to uncover the truth of Jack’s past life and propel Tyler to his impossible destiny.
Thrust into a supernatural war, the Gravens find salvation through the Black Muramasa, a cursed black katana and the only weapon that can destroy immortals. As they uncover more mysteries behind the ancient blade, they come face to face with the Devil himself, but in the most familiar of faces.
Their pasts, presents, and futures all linked, the Four Horsemen must end the war once and for all to survive with their souls intact. Failing could mean the end of the world.
A follow-up to the explosive first book in the Ballad of Fallen Angels series, “Sympathy for the Devil,” Book 2 is an action-packed, gun-slinging adventure that packs the punch of a military thriller with high-stakes supernatural intrigue.

Excerpt from Stairway to Heaven
“Make no mistake about it,” I continued. “You and your companions are caught in the middle of a war, a war of immortals. You need me just as much as I need you. As my disciples, the only change is your indebtedness to me. I would in essence be your master, and in return I will continue to offer my advice and protection. As it stands, I would say the two of you are quite indebted to me already.”
“What will we gain from this?” Jack asked. “I’ve never even considered the thought of pledging myself in return for information.”
“You gain an identity for yourself, and Tyler perhaps his soul. It will make sense once I’ve finished, this is for certain. You will also gain intimate knowledge regarding the immortals after your lives, but not without the assurance that I have my followers.”
Jack and Tyler faced each other then, seemingly sharing a silent moment of contemplation.
“Better the devil you know, little brother,” Tyler said at last.
“I tried walking away once, and it didn’t end well. He knew my name, a name I haven’t shared with anyone here,” Jack stated, turning in his chair to face Tyler. “I’m still alive, so I’d like the truth.”
“I guess we’re in, then.”
“Two,” I counted, displaying both fingers in the air. “Very well, then, my disciples. I will reveal everything you wish to know and more. The greatest story ever told.”
“Who are you really?” Jack asked.
“I am the fallen one,” I responded. “I am Lucifer.”

Guest Post from the Author of Stairway to Heaven
Character Bio: First Sergeant Richard Medal, Revolver
Richard Medal, better known as Revolver, is the world’s greatest spy. He is able to infiltrate any organization or unit and is single-handedly responsible for the collapse of governments around the world. Unbeknownst to many, this is because Richard is an immortal capable of shapeshifting into anything he can imagine.
Richard is only his most recently kept identity. He’s had many names since the beginning of time: Dracula, El Diablo, and Satan, just to name a few. But before all of these names, he was Lucifer: one of heaven’s mightiest generals and Warden of South Heaven.
Lucifer was named Sudom, heaven’s greatest warrior, after he betrayed Raphael and reset him, taking the sacred shard in the process. He eventually betrayed his closest friend, Michael, his student, Gabriel, and all of heaven in his attempt to become God.
As punishment for his failed attempt, he was banished to Earth, where he continued his schemes. Lucifer, or more appropriately Richard, eventually finds himself challenged by a human named Lee Graven. Lee somehow bests Richard in combat, and Richard is tied to the man ever since. That is until the day that Lee Graven is killed.
For Richard, the only way to be truly free is to become God. And he believes he knows how to become just that. As he once used humans to get rid of God on Earth, he will attempt to do so again. However, this time, it will be by bringing about the apocalypse.

Hi Eva, thank you so much. I hope you get a chance to read and enjoy my new novel. What element of this novel grabbed you the most?
Thanks so much for hosting! A question for readers: how do you feel about the idea of mixing the spy genre with fantasy, specifically as done here with angels and demons?
I think it’s a unique & entertaining concept.
Thanks, Gina!
Happy Monday! Thank you for sharing your character guest post, your bio and book details, I love the cover and the synopsis and excerpt have intrigued me, I am really looking forward to reading this story. I have a personal question for you today and please feel free not to answer if it is too personal, do you believe in angels and/or reincarnation?
Hi Bea, thanks so much, I hope you enjoy reading this novel. I actually do believe in angels, but not in the sense of this story, meaning I feel angels are spirits, like God, who sometimes will influence humans to do good deeds. They may even speak to us on occasion. I like the idea of reincarnation, and as genetics are passed down I feel some traits and characteristics might be passed down as well, but no, I don’t think an exact copy of the human soul is recycled or reincarnated. It’s a fun thought though.
Thanks for hosting!
