Ethan Scott lives with his grandfather above Bingham’s Rare Artifacts, an unusual store with even more unusual customers. He’s a whiz at a board game only he and his grandfather seem to have heard of. And rather than friends, he surrounds himself with the trappings of an unknown past.
Until his grandfather goes missing . . . leaving behind a cryptic letter, a valuable gift, and a very confused grandson. To save him, Ethan must conquer time and space and embrace an unlikely destiny. But as he plays the part that seems to have been written for him, Ethan is swept up in his grandfather’s secret but not-so-distant past and discovers that his own future is wrapped up in it.
And when his lines run out, Ethan must choose between becoming the hero he was born to be or losing his grandfather forever. Unless he can find another way.
The Accidental World is for all readers who understand there’s more to reality than meets the eye, who dream of another world just beyond reach, and who sometimes wish time ran a little bit differently.

My thoughts on The Accidental World
The Accidental World is a well-written tale of adventure and time-travel, with aspects of steampunk and sci-fi.
K.A. Griffin does a masterful job of building the world for his characters to play in without overwhelming you with details.
Ethan is a delightful young man who has you rooting for him from the very beginning. He is very easy to relate to.
The pacing was a tad slow at the beginning for me, but once the story sucks you in, it’s hard to stop turning the pages. The gaming aspect was unique and played such an intriguing part of the story.
Eugene Ivanov is the master behind the magnificent cover of The Accidental World.
Overall, I would rate this a 4.5 today. I am not particularly fond of star ratings as I feel they are too arbitrary. But regardless of the rating, I highly recommend this delightful tale to all readers.
I will certainly pick up the next book in this series to see what fantastic adventures await Ethan.
I received a copy of the book for the tour. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

Author Interview
Which was the hardest character to write? The easiest? Heroes are always the hardest for me to write. If they are too perfect, they are unbelievable. If they are too flawed, they become unheroic.
In your book you make a reference to a game called Conquest, how did you come up with this idea? I wanted this series to show a different kind of hero not defined by physical skill or strength. So, the pivotal point of this story involves a strategic game of the mind. To do this I had to invent a game that didn’t exist.
Where do you get inspiration for your stories? Historically, I am driven when someone says something can’t be done, that their view is the only way things actually happen.
There are many books out there about young adult heroes. What makes yours different? Most stories center around magic, physical speed, strength, or the warrior skills of a hero. The Accidental World is about a young man who possesses none of those attributes but still lives in a way that can only be described as heroic.
What advice would you give budding writers? Live life and write every day. It’s hard to write about things you haven’t yet experienced.
If you could put yourself as a character in your book, who would you be? There is a little bit of me in most of the characters. Is there any one character who represents me? No. Roland Flynn is closest, but even then, he has attributes that are nothing like me.
Do you have another profession besides writing? Yes, I currently work for Amazon running part of the operations for one of the Texas-based buildings.
How long have you been writing? Since I was 18. My first effort was a short story only 13 pages long. My family had to solve the mystery to get their Christmas presents. This approach to self-publishing didn’t go over well with my older brother.
Do you ever get writer’s block? What helps you overcome it? Never. I write to music so sometimes I have to find the right music to get things going, but it is never a long-term block.
What is your next project? I’m currently working on Book 3 of The Accidental World series. Book 2 is finished, and Book 3 is not far behind. There will be a total of six books in the series.
What genre do you write and why? My “practice novels” were political thrillers. I chose this science fiction/fantasy genre next because I wanted to create a story unencumbered by current events and past history.
What’s the funniest thing that ever happened to you? Entered the stage in the high school performance of The Sound of Music, with my zipper down and my white dress shirt sticking out of my pants. The scariest? Sitting in the den of a Destin, Florida rental during a hurricane feeling the house twist. (It was elevated on concrete columns.) The strangest? I met the former president of Romania (Nicolae Ceaușescu). That was, of course, before he was hung by his own citizens. I wasn’t there for that.
What’s the most courageous thing you’ve ever done? I can’t tell you that. It’s classified.
Any hobbies? or Name a quirky thing you like to do. My wife and attend Renaissance Festivals in different cities.
If there is one thing you want readers to remember about you, what would it be? I want readers to curse me because they couldn’t stop reading and were still turning the pages when the sun came up and it was time to go to work.
