Well, let’s just say that they will be needing more than one lesson from Elizabeth the Emu’s etiquette class.

My thoughts on The Elegant Emu
Elizabeth, the Elegant Emu has her work cut out for her in teaching the Bobos Princesses the importance of good manners.
The girls learn proper etiquette at the table, at least we hope they eventually learn to chew with their mouths closed, never to pick their noses, pass gas, or burp in public. Personal hygiene lessons are very important today, especially properly washing your hands.
Thank goodness, at the end of the lessons, Elizabeth has her own lovely, kind, and well-behaved family to help her recover from teaching the rambunctious Bobos Princesses the fine art of manners.
I love that the story emphasizes that lessons like these won’t take hold in just one session. Good manners are a life skill that needs to be repeated frequently and reinforced just as often.
The Elegant Emu is beautifully written and illustrated. The rhymes make reading fun for youngsters and even adults can benefit from these basic lessons in proper behavior.

About Karen M Bobos
Karen M Bobos began writing poetry and stories at the early age of ten. She is a life-long Chicagoan who now raises her family in the downtown area.
During the 2020 Coronavirus Pandemic, Chicago also became a city of unrest. Trying to keep her three young daughters in a world of magic during such scary times, the Bobos Babes Adventures was born. Her goal was to create a world of Harmony for her family and hopefully for others to escape, even if only for a moment.
The first book of the series, The Case of the Giggles, was published in December 2020. The Missing Egg launched in March 2021. Thus far, she has written ten Bobos Babes Adventures and two chapter books. Two additional books, The Lion's Secret and The Bobcat Birthday Party, are coming in 2021.

How the author created the land of Harmony
Once I began writing the Adventures in Harmony series (formerly Bobos Babes Adventures), before it was even a series, it didn’t take long to realize that the magical land that they lived in should be called Harmony. I began writing the series in the summer of 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic. We were living downtown Chicago and experiencing firsthand a city of unrest. It was terrifying. We longed for peace. I
created the books to entertain my daughters, hence the reason they are the main characters. All the creatures of Harmony were animals and inspired by real people in their lives. No one died in Harmony, so my father who passed away in 2016, became a key character in the stories, Leonard the Lion.
When someone reads an Adventure in Harmony book, I want them to be able to escape, if only for a moment, to a peaceful world full of magic and beauty. Each illustration is carefully designed. The outdoor scenes are filled with waterfalls, majestic mountains, pink fish, golden ponies, and tons of flowers. We have sprinkled in some of the town in this book and the Halloween book, showing Elizabeth the Emu’s Etiquette School and Lily the Ladybug’s Boutique.
In the Christmas book, we have been focusing a lot on the town square, which is filled with cobblestone roads, ornate churches, and charming shops and restaurants. It’s been such a joy creating the castle, from the ballrooms to the royal dining rooms. Harmony is truly my envision of heaven, and I hope it whisps my readers there as well.
