The Great Jewel Robbery (A Front Page Mystery Book 1) by Elizabeth McKenna | #ThrowBackThursday Review

As part of my new blog plans, I’m going to start updating some of my earlier reviews as well as sharing some books I read but did not post to the blog. Nothing has been changed as far as ratings and reviews, I’ve just updated the format, images, etc.

The lovely Carol at The Reading Ladies Book Club inspired these updates.

I’m also linking up today with Davida @ The Chocolate Lady’s Book Review Blog for #throwbackthursday.

Mystery with a splash of romance…

Chicago Tribune reporters Emma and Grace have been best friends since college despite coming from different worlds. When Grace is assigned to cover an annual charity ball and auction being held at a lakeside mansion and her boyfriend bails on her, she brings Emma as her plus one.

The night is going smoothly until Emma finds the host’s brother unconscious in the study. Though at first it is thought he was tipsy and stumbled, it soon becomes clear more is afoot, as the wall safe is empty and a three-million-dollar diamond necklace is missing.

With visions of becoming ace investigative journalists, Emma and Grace set out to solve the mystery, much to the chagrin of the handsome local detective.

My thoughts on The Great Jewel Robbery

The Great Jewel Robbery New book cover image

The Great Jewel Robbery by Elizabeth McKenna is a charming cozy mystery story. It’s book 1 of the Front Page Mystery series featuring Emma & Grace, best friends since college. They are reporters at the Tribune. Emma tags along on Grace’s lifestyle assignment at a ritzy charity event sponsored by Grace’s family friends.

They soon find themselves deep in a burglary mystery, determined to solve it before the handsome detective. Murder and mayhem ensue along with humor and a touch of light romance.

Fans of cozy mysteries will love this one. It’s chock full of everything you could want from a light cozy mystery. I will definitely be adding book 2 to my reading list.

I may have received this book from the author or publisher to review. This is my honest, unbiased opinion.

About Elizabeth McKenna

Elizabeth McKenna Author Profile image

Elizabeth McKenna’s love of books reaches back to her childhood, where her tastes ranged from Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys to Stephen King’s horror stories.

She had never read a romance novel until one Christmas when her sister gave her the latest bestseller by Nora Roberts. She was hooked from page one (actually, she admits it was the first love scene).

Her novels reflect her mercurial temperament and include historical romances, contemporary romances, cozy mysteries, and dark mysteries. With some being “clean” and some being “naughty,” she has a book for your every mood.

Elizabeth lives in Wisconsin with her understanding husband, two beautiful daughters, and a sassy Labrador. When she isn’t writing, working, or being a mom, she’s sleeping.
