Krubera – deepest cave in the world. What could possibly go wrong?
As it turns out, quite a lot.

Ross and Damon Fraser are brothers on an elite caving team attempting a new world depth record, but the wheels come off the moment they arrive in the tiny breakaway republic of Abkhazia. Akhar Kutsnia, head of the country’s shadowy intelligence network, throws them in prison and gives them an ultimatum.

Damon, a lawyer for the CIA, will remain on the surface to ferret out who is meddling with Abkhazia’s upcoming election, while Ross continues down the cave with the team. If Damon refuses to help or is unsuccessful, Ross will not make it out of the cave alive.

Thrust into Kutsnia’s murky world of covert ops, Damon teams up with Kari Howland, an analyst out of the CIA’s London office. Together, as the election ticks ever closer, they begin to peel back the layers of a deadly conspiracy.

My thoughts on The Krubera Conspiracy

The Krubera Conspiracy Square

The Krubera Conspiracy is a wild ride!

It’s quite a testament to the author’s power over the reader in that I kept turning those pages, even when the thought of my claustrophobic self in an underwater cave took my breath away.

The action is intense and non-stop throughout the story. In the beginning, I had a few moments of confusion while I sorted out the characters, but it wasn’t long until I was hanging on to their every word and action.

Krubera Cave is the second-deepest-known cave on Earth. It’s located in the Arabika Massif of the Gagra Range of the Western Caucasus, in the Gagra district of Abkhazia, a breakaway region of Georgia. That is the only fact you can be sure of in this tale of twisting and turning covert ops, hostages, political intrigue, and deep caving.

Ross and Damon have that magical sibling bond. They would literally die for each other. There was a bit of slow-burn romantic chemistry between Damon and Kari, adding an extra element to the storyline. The many foreign characters tended to blur together in my mind, but not enough to take away from the overall enjoyment of the book.

I highly recommend this book to lovers of espionage, mystery, and breathtaking adventure.

I received a digital copy of the book from the author or publisher to review. This is my honest, unbiased opinion.

About Jeff Buick

Jeff Buick image

Jeff Buick writes fast moving fiction across numerous genres, including mystery, suspense, thrillers and crime. For Jeff, it's all about the story. Nothing works without a great story relentlessly driving the action ahead. A tight plot with well-crafted characters means a psychological thriller geared for readers who love an adventure.

Creating the characters who populate his books is second only to the plot line, and there's no better place to find those characters than in the real world. Writing is in Jeff's blood, and over the last twenty years he's written twenty-one books.

A few years ago Jeff put out five books through a NY publisher, but the industry has changed and he's now Indie publishing on Amazon. 2020 promises to be an incredible year, with four books set to be released, all with stories that will engage, enlighten and entertain the reader.

Jeff lives in Calgary, Alberta which is wonderful in the summer, not so much in the winter.
