My thoughts on Where is He? Tank the Tortoise
Where is He? Tank the Tortoise by Parimalasri Docktor is a children’s picture book with a unique look at what happens to pets after the death of their owner.
The story is well-told with beautiful illustrations. The topic is presented in the appropriate language for very young children. However, the best part is that it opens discussions between children and adults about difficult subjects.
If your child isn’t ready for an in-depth discussion, the book has plenty of learning opportunities about lighter subjects such as the tortoise habitat and diet.
I recommend this story to all libraries, daycares, schools, and families with young readers.
I received a copy of the book for the tour. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

About Parimalasri Docktor
Parimalasri Docktor was born and raised in India. She moved to the United States in 1990.
She currently resides in Philadelphia. She has written a few children’s books and a memoir. “Where is he?” is her fourth children’s book.
This is her debut as an author and illustrator. The wood burning illustration in the book is by Parimalasri. She enjoys beadwork, painting, drawing and pyrography.

Is there a season you tend to write more in?
Not really. No season or reason at all. I write only when I have vivid dreams. Otherwise, I retain in my mind and work on it when I get some free time.
If you weren’t a writer, what kind of career do you think you’d have?
I do have a full time job as an office administrator at a Hospital.
If I didn’t have any job, just love to do art of different mediums.
Do you plan to only write in this genre?
I think so. I have few other children’s stories already completed.

When you were a child, did you enjoy drawing?
Hi Nancy,
Yes, I enjoyed drawing as a little girl and won a lot of contests in school in India. I got into wood burning and enjoy it a lot. My husband and I combine our art together. My wood burning piece of Tank is one of the illustrations in my book.

I loved writing about Tank, since he is very special. Since 2019, I feed him every morning before I go to work, except when we had to travel. He is a joy!
