About Sam Hirschmann
Sam Hirschmann is the creator and writer of Sam Says: You Are Born to Shine, and is a true dancer of life. After playing Division I volleyball and working on the trading floor in New York City, she decided to take an acting class, which Sam thanks for sparking her journey into seeing life in color.
She left finance to study acting at the William Esper Studio, which took her down the path of finding her true self and how to authentically let her light shine in every situation. While pursuing acting, Sam began teaching Breathwork classes and sharing her insight on social media in hopes of inspiring others to find their joy within and to let their inner light shine.

Positive Self-Talk in Young Children to Boost Self-Esteem and Confidence
The voice that lives inside of all our heads is a powerful voice and truly can determine our inner peace, happiness, and self-esteem (whether we’re an adult or a young child!). Introducing positive self-talk is a powerful way to help maintain and boost self-esteem and confidence in young children so they feel excited and safe to be and express themselves. Also, it becomes a great tool for them to have whenever feelings of insecurities arise. Some of my favorite ways to help foster positive self-talk are:
Using encouraging words to uplift and motivate – use uplifting and motivating words around your child that encourage and promote them to feel safe to express their unique selves and interests. By hearing adults use encouraging words, it will help them mirror them in their own lives!
Create a “Positive Words” Ritual – I love this one! Make it a daily or weekly ritual where your child shares positive words about themselves, their friends, and their family members to support their positive inner voice development.
Use Affirmation Cards – create your own or purchase affirmation cards (StevieDoesIt on Etsy has my favorite ones called “Pocket Mantras for Kids”). Using affirmation cards makes promoting positive self-talk fun and they can use the affirmations when they are feeling unsure of themselves.
Encourage Gratitude– by helping your child focus on “the good” in life that will boost a positive inner voice versus the negative inner critic focusing on what’s wrong or “bad”
