My thoughts on Aqua Paws
Aqua Paws by Patricia Allieri is an excellent book for early readers and their caregivers. It features engaging characters, beautiful illustrations, and educational messages seamlessly woven into the story to keep readers entertained.
In this short book, Aqua Paws learns about facing fears, avoiding quick judgments, and the importance of protecting our oceans and beaches. Both children and adults can learn valuable lessons from Aqua Paws.
The book highlights the need for everyone to contribute to preserving our planet’s habitability, demonstrating how even small steps can yield significant rewards.
I received a copy of the book for the tour. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

- How did I pick the amazing illustrator?
Being a new author, I really wasn’t sure about where to find an illustrator. I went over multiple websites and asked authors who they would recommend. I thought I would know from the get-go when I found the right author. Yes. This is true! I knew right away that I loved my illustrations from Stella’s portfolio. She was amazing and I loved everything she drew. I loved working with Stella. She is creative and added a back story also. Stella fit right in with Aqua Paws!
- What experiences helped me to write my story?
The entire theme behind Aqua Paws comes from my cat, Jack, and my childhood growing up at the beach at the Jersey Shore, as well as raising two children and working in elementary education. While my story is fictional, I wanted Aqua Paws to help children understand and care about our oceans and the environment.
- Why do I like to be a self-published Author?
I knew I would love being able to read and share my story with kiddos during school visits, book signings, and any other author visits. I love children, our community, and reading stories to kids. I didn’t relieve how well I could positivity connect with teachers, parents, and others during these events.
- What do you like the most about be a self-published author?
I like the flexibility of controlling every aspect of my own book. I can change things, pick out the best colors and illustrations, change the plot, or just add more written words to my story.
- Would you also like to become an illustrator too?
I like the idea of an author/illustrator. I do not think I want to learn how to draw. It’s hard. And I really enjoy writing the story. There are a lot of self-published illustrators who write too. I admire them for doing both.
