Every person, from the moment of birth, fights a constant battle over remaining subservient and docile or attaining power and control at any cost. Positive leadership is certainly necessary, but, if the latter is achieved, there could be catastrophic consequences if it involves large portions of the Earth and the ones in power have a total lack of respect for the value of human life.

This book gives an alternate view of why man’s journey has led him to this point in time. DAVID delves into a young boy's life, whose parents are from both the present and the past, and describes the complicated interactions he has with both of the environments he must live in. Because of the imperfections of human beings, there is always a measure of unpredictability with any plan that is undertaken.

David’s character in the book has been given a job with all the necessary tools to complete that job. How he sets out to accomplish that mission will determine his success, and his success will determine the fate of mankind. This is the beginning of a long road back to a more stable existence for mankind.

My thoughts on David

Favorite quote from the introduction: “Everything in this book can be accepted as fiction or, maybe, just maybe, a possibility. You choose.”

James Bounds’ debut novel, “David: A New Direction for Mankind: Part I,” is a compelling and thought-provoking story that takes readers on a journey of self-discovery, power struggles, and the potential for redemption. The author weaves together a complex narrative filled with unexpected twists and turns that keep readers engaged from start to finish.

Although “David: A New Direction for Mankind: Part I” concludes with several unresolved threads, it serves as an engaging introduction to a larger narrative that promises a thought-provoking exploration of power, destiny, and the fate of humanity.

Overall, James Bounds’ debut novel showcases his ability to craft an engaging story filled with complex characters and a richly imagined world. Readers will find themselves captivated by the thought-provoking themes and eager to embark on the next installment in this promising series.

I received a digital copy of the book from the author or publisher to review. This is my honest, unbiased opinion.

About James Bounds

Goodreads generic author image

Words from James Bounds:

I was born in deep east Texas, the first in a family of four kids. My early school years were spent in Carthage, Texas. I spent three years in the Marines after graduating high school in Longview, Texas, and spent one year of that in Vietnam. I was separated from active duty in 1972, moved to Hawaii, lived on an old boat, and became a beach bum for about a year.

When I moved back to the mainland, I came to my senses; I thought and got an associate's degree in electronic technology. This enabled me to land a job at Texas Instruments in the Metrology field. I worked there for three years and lost my senses again. I took my wife, three kids, and an old school bus, that I converted into a motor home and moved to Oklahoma.

We lived there, in that school bus, for a couple of years until I regained my senses again. I went back to work for Texas Instruments and retired from L-3 Communications 25 years later. Along the way, I've acquired two wives, seven children, sixteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a BAAS degree from Texas A&M.

It's been a rocky road but an interesting one. I now hope to do a little writing and hopefully provide the reader with a little respite from their complicated daily lives.
