Friday Finds | November 20, 2020 | Thanksgiving Issue

Welcome my friends to the Thanksgiving issue of the Finds. I know many of you are not in the United States, but everyone celebrates with special holiday dinners, so I hope you find a recipe to try this week. I’m also doing another author round-up because Indie authors are a part of my life every day and I am so very thankful I get to work with them.

I know it’s been a strange and trying year, but I still find so much to appreciate in my life. It’s wonderful that I am able to be somewhat self-sustaining on my rural bit of land. I have a freezer full of meals and garden vegetables and only have to venture out for a few staples occasionally. My husband and I are both retired and very comfortable with our own company. When it gets a little too crowded in the house, we have a large block barn that one of us can adjourn to for a little more solitude. We are well-positioned to ride out the current situation. I pray for those who are on the front lines battling this epidemic. So overall, I feel quite blessed this year.

Tell me, what are you thankful for? Do you look for the sunshine each day?

Sally writes the most fabulous regency romance novels. If you want a quick respite from your daily turmoils, pick up one of her books and get whisked away to Regency England. You’ll love her rich settings, excellent characters, as well as the humor sprinkled throughout each book. I’ve reviewed several of her books since I am a part of her ARC team.

Kurt is an amazing gentleman. He can write hard-core Navy seal fiction to heartbreaking noir to poetry, all with equal excellence. I have had the pleasure of working with him several times. His life journey makes me appreciate his novels even more and to be honest, gives me a greater appreciation for my life.

Fiction

When Hayden was a child, she lost her cat. Adults told her the cat ran away, but she knew the truth. The mirror had taken her.
She knew because the mirror had given her a glimpse of an alternate world and had nearly pulled her in, so she was certain the cat had suffered that fate

Incandescent Visions explores the meaning of the human experience, as the author encourages his readers to ponder the universe and their place within it and to catalyze their own creative potential.

The Cousins by Karen M. McManus | book cover     The Cousins by Karen M. McManus

Contemporary Fiction/Suspense/Family

Milly, Aubrey, and Jonah Story are cousins, but they barely know each other, and they’ve never even met their grandmother. Rich and reclusive, she disinherited their parents before they were born. So when they each receive a letter inviting them to work at her island resort for the summer, they’re surprised . . . and curious.

Book cover - From Dill to Dracula: A Romanian Food and Folklore Cookbook     From Dill to Dracula: A Romanian Food & Folklore Cookbook by A.M. Ruggirello

Cookbook with much more

Romania—a hidden gem of Eastern Europe—is better known for its brush with communism than its cuisine. But, just because it’s hidden, doesn’t mean it’s forgotten. Filled with lush ingredients, many picked fresh from the field, you’ll find a traditional Romanian plate loaded to the brim with vegetables and lean proteins, never lacking in flavor.

  1. Glad to hear you are staying positive and safe, Gina! It’s been a roller coaster for me. My work hours have been cut way back, but I’m thankful my husband has been able to continue working. I’m sort of thankful I’m not working as much so I can concentrate on homeschooling my daughters. I’m also thankful because in the days I did work, wearing a mask was not easy when giving therapy to patients. It’s hard for patients to hear through the mask and a lot of them are lip readers, so masks are a huge hinderance in that respect. The last time I worked, I had to wear an N95 mask and I felt so light headed like I was going to pass out. Anyway, I’m so thankful that you included me in your blog post! It means so much to me and is helpful in my journey as an author, especially since I’m not able to work as much right now.

  2. Eve

Lovely post! I like the mason jar lid craft and the cranberry sauce recipe looks wonderful. Thanks!
