A legacy is realized and a prophecy unfolds.

In the wake of the death of her parents, Kara Tanner must get on with life. But trying to keep her promises to them only keeps the pair in her thoughts. Her only respite is her new art studio and the antique mirror she finds there. As she sketches its distorted reflections, a handsome face slowly takes form—one that quickly captivates her.

In the great keepe of the House of Hawks, Blade Lord Jacyn hears whispers of war. But as he broods, it is what he sees that troubles him. A lovely, weeping woman has appeared in his darksilver. As suspicion finally gives way to obsession, he must act to bring her to him or see her perish.

But as passion erupts, a traitorous foe sees his chance and centuries of peace teeters on the brink.

My thoughts on Jacyn: Through the Darksilver

Jacyn by Hazel Hunter Book Cover image

Hazel Hunter does it again! Jacyn is the prequel to her new Darksilver series.

This book is a quick read at 96 pages. It sets up the world, the mysteries, and fleshes out several of the characters. Jacyn provides an intriguing start to explaining the Blade Lords and how they came into an immortal existence. Kara represents the human side of the Darksiver. She intends to fulfill her destiny, as explained by her parents, no matter the cost.

The vampiric aspect doesn’t strike me as the main focus of this opening book. I am much more intrigued by the separate worlds, the mystery prisoner, and I’m surely going to be horrified (in a good way) by the villain.

There is some “heat” in the tale. It’s not over-the-top but should enhance the story for lovers of the sexy vampire while being easy to skim for those that don’t enjoy that level of description.

As always in a Hazel Hunter book, the pace is gripping, the words were flawlessly written, and the concept is dark and delicious!

Bring on Arne and book one!

I own a digital copy of the book. This is my honest, unbiased opinion.

About Hazel Hunter

Icon for Hazel Hunter

Hazel Hunter and her husband stopped being separate people years ago. They live their happy life in the always crowded, mostly sunny, and sometimes sweltering city of LA.

When you can pull Hazel's fingers from the laptop, you'll find her: on the elliptical watching a documentary, indulging her audiobook habit, or spending quality time with Candy Crush.

Although she's vegan, she's a disaster in the kitchen. Luckily potato chips and pinot noir come ready-made.
