My thoughts on Solar System – Amazing Space Adventure
This book is a fine example of teaching children while entertaining them. The pictures are brilliantly colored with lots of objects to find and count. The words do an excellent job of describing the planets in our solar system, mostly in rhyme.
There are coloring pages at the back of the book for added fun, as well as a website for an additional free gift.
The entire collection would make a great gift for an inquisitive toddler. You can find info on the other books in the series further down in this post.

Gene Lipen is a writer and author of the new children's book series: Kids Books for Young Explorers.
A father of two daughters, and with many years of family travel experiences around the world behind him, he has a unique perspective of looking at the beauty our planet has to offer. With a passion for writing and a distinct desire to share his family experiences with the world, he has created a new series of children's books meant to spark kids' imaginations and get them excited about exploring the world we live in.
Gene was born in Eastern Europe and traveled with his family in his teens to the United States. His lifelong obsession with visiting different countries and understanding different peoples led to the start of fun and unique books for young readers.

What inspired you to write in this genre?
My daughters are the inspiration for my books.
If an author fictionalized your life, in which genre would the story belong?
Action and Adventure
Do you have a set writing schedule?
I don’t have a set schedule, but I like writing in the mornings. It really helps me focus.
Do you need silence to write, or can you work in any environment?
Silence does help me, but it is the location where I do my writing that is more important.
What is your favorite type of music?
I enjoy classical music.
If you could set up your perfect writing scenario, what would it involve?
Somewhere overlooking the ocean, with waves coming into shore.
How do you choose the names of your characters?
For this book, I chose Arthur as the main character, based on the recommendation from my kids.
When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I grew up loving soccer and always dreamed of becoming a soccer player. Needless to say, it did not work out so well.
What is your most unusual writing quirk?
I enjoy drinking my coffee early in the morning before I start writing. It helps me focus.
Do you have a hobby you would like to share with us?
I enjoy swimming. There is something about being under the water, without any of the world’s distractions, which appeals to me.
What do you read for pleasure?
I enjoy reading about the history of the world. I always find it interesting how history repeats itself.
Do you have a favorite snack or beverage while you are writing?
No, I try not to get distracted by anything.
Is there anything you would like my readers to know about you and your book?
The main reason for creating my books is to share with kids a different way of looking at the world. Kids are big dreamers and I would like to help them expand their imagination.

Thanks Gina for bringing Gene Lipen’s books to my attention! These look like terrific gifts for several of my grandkids. Also, one of the most difficult things is finding interesting, educational coloring books for this age range (that aren’t just blatant Disney ads) and I wonder if he’s considered doing a book that’s all coloring pages.
