Title: Third Day of Infamy

Author: Stan Bumgardner

Genre: Political Thriller

Synopsis from Goodreads:

A cross-genre thriller that embraces the familial love between a president and his mentally challenged son, placing both in mortal danger; a granddaughter willing to die in place of her grandpa; a self-confident, restrained hero who depends upon his intellect and finessing his skills, along with help from his talented wife, rather than his capability to rush in with guns blazing. A plot woven of creative threads that the enemy relies upon, taking advantage of the weak link in our security, man’s selfish desires! After you see how all of these ingenious episodes fit together to bring down the giant, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking finale!

Review: Third Day of Infamy

My review: Third Day of Infamy by Stan Bumgardner

The action never stops in Stan Bumgardner’s Third Day of Infamy. A few years ago so many of these concepts would have seemed insanely unbelievable. Today, nothing is off the table in terms of technology and humans desire to destroy their fellow man.

The storyline grabs you in the opening paragraphs and does not let go until the last word is read. The author has obviously done intensive research into all aspect of our government procedures, protections, and equipment, as well as studied human reactions to kidnapping, stress, panic, and catastrophe.

Every chapter is crucial in building to the finale. There is violence in this book. The storyline demands it but it is not used in an over-the-top manner.

I would recommend this book to everyone interested in action, adventure, thrillers, government crisis, terrorists vs America, human interactions, and technology.

An interview with Stan Bumgardner, author of Third Day of Infamy

Author Bio from Amazon:

I have a passion for storytelling. It’s certainly not driven by a desire for prestige or money, rather it’s an expression of my creativity, coupled with a sincere desire for my reader’s enjoyment. I am a student of history and am absorbed with world events and the roles news makers play, often revealing their lust for sex, power, and prestige. These traits along with real love, honor, self-respect and my life’s experiences, my successes, and my failures, are some of the elements I use in my work…my labor of love.

I married my high school sweetheart, then graduated from LSU with honors. We’ve been blessed with four wonderful daughters. I served in the U.S. Air Force in a highly classified tour of duty and followed that with years of challenging, but fulfilling work.

Thanks to my readers, I have the opportunity to help people enjoy curling up with a good book. Nothing like it.

Interview:

How long have you been writing?

About four years, but I ditched the first one.

What inspired you to write in this genre?

I am by nature an introvert; perhaps this thriller is my alter ego appearing. Neither of my next two are thrillers.

Which genre would your story belong in if your life was fictionalized?

Classic; a story of one who never ever surrenders. One of my idols is Winston Churchill (see his brief graduation speech at Oxford.)

Do you need silence to write or can you work in any environment?

I prefer silence but work at reduced effectiveness if noisy.

If you could set up your perfect writing scenario, what would it involve?

Plenty of time to research, research!

If you could form the ultimate writer group, which authors past or present would you invite to join you?

The Bronte sisters, Dickens, C.S. Lewis, Maugham, Sagan, Krauthammer, Rachel Carson, Capote, and thriller authors, Flynn, Clancy, Cook, Patterson, Iles, and Grisham.

What is your go-to snack food and do you snack while writing?

Iced tea or a carbonated, unsweetened coconut flavored beverage.

Who has influenced your writing the most?

The authors I listed above, but Vince Flynn stands out; poor guy died so young.

Is there anything you would like my readers to know about you and your book?

I am a passionate storyteller who sincerely appreciates the prospect of readers enjoying my work. I enjoy the challenge.
