The 30 September 2022 Friday Finds are here with a new Author of the Week, Fall Recipes, Book Recs, Halloween Crochet, Giveaways, and more!
Hello, my friends & welcome to the 30 September 2022 Friday Finds 2022 Fun!
I know I’ve complained about our weather quite a bit this summer. Today, I’m feeling very grateful that I live in the Midwest. I spent Wednesday and Thursday watching the horrific images from Florida of the destruction caused by Hurricane Ian. My thoughts are with all my friends, family, authors, and readers living in the affected areas. I’ll be donating all the proceeds from this week’s sales to help with the recovery efforts. So let’s hope I have a very good sales week on Etsy, Bookshop, and Amazon.
If you find something inspiring in this issue, be sure you leave a comment below letting me know about it. Your feedback helps me write future Friday Finds!
Peace & Love
Small side note: I’ve been including purchase banners with every book/product that I can. They don’t always show up, so I’ve included alternate purchase links at the bottom of this post.

Friday Finds | 30 September 2022 | Books
These are a few of the books that caught my eye this week. Have you read them? Would you like to?
Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories by Kelly Ripa
A sharp, funny, and honest collection of real-life stories from Kelly Ripa, showing the many dimensions and crackling wit of the beloved daytime talk show host.
In Live Wire, her first book, Kelly shows what really makes her tick. As a professional, as a wife, as a daughter and as a mother, she brings hard-earned wisdom and an eye for the absurdity of life to every minute of every day. It is her relatability in all of these roles that has earned her fans worldwide and millions of followers on social media. Whether recounting how she and Mark really met, the level of chauvinism she experienced on set, how Jersey Pride follows her wherever she goes, and many, many moments of utter mortification (whence she proves that you cannot, in fact, die of embarrassment) Kelly always tells it like it is. Ms. Ripa takes no prisoners.
Surprising, at times savage, a little shameless, and always with humor… Live Wire shows Kelly as she really is offscreen—a very wise woman who has something to say.

The Leaf Thief by Alice Hemming
Perfect for fans of Fletcher and the Falling Leaves, The Leaf Thief is a funny picture book that teaches kids about autumn, adapting to change and the seasons.
Squirrel loves counting the leaves on his tree–red leaves, gold leaves, orange, and more. But hold on! One of his leaves is missing! On a quest to find the missing leaf, Squirrel teams up with his good friend Bird to discover who the leaf thief could be among their forest friends.
With vibrant art and captivating characters, the magic of autumn is captured beautifully on each page as readers tag along with Squirrel’s forest adventure. Is there truly a leaf thief afoot, or is something else going on in Squirrel’s forest? A perfect exploration of change–both seasonal, and the anxiety that change sometimes causes. Bonus material explaining about the changing of the seasons. Poised to be a new fall classic.
Pick up The Leaf Thief if you are looking for:
- A classic read for ages 4 and up
- Back-to-school books, ideal for your classroom, homeschool curriculum, and more!
- Seasonal and educational stories about the changing seasons

The Silent Woman by Minka Kent
Newlywed Jade Westmore has finally found her forever in husband Wells, a charming, successful, and recently divorced architect—only there’s one caveat. Behind the gates of their elysian estate, hidden from street view in the caretaker’s cottage … lives Wells’ first wife, Sylvie.
Three years ago, the original Mrs. Westmore suffered an unfortunate accident—and hasn’t uttered a sound since. Not a physician, psychologist, or world-renowned specialist has been able to elicit so much as a word from the silent woman … until now.
On an ordinary Tuesday while Wells was away—despite instructions to never disturb the fragile woman—Jade visited her isolated predecessor bearing a peace offering: a bouquet of white lilies. Only she wasn’t expecting Sylvie to have something for her as well: a slip of torn notebook paper with a single word scrawled in shaky black ink.
That word? Run.
