My thoughts on The Last Thing She Said
The Last Thing She Said is book three of the Chris Matheson Cold Case Mysteries by Lauren Carr.
The Geezer Squad is back and this case is right up their alley. When famous mystery author, Mercedes Livingston, went missing forty-years-ago, a young boy named Chris Matheson was the last person to see her.
All these years later, an autographed book & letter show up. That’s all it takes for Chris & his retired friends from various law enforcement divisions, the Geezer Squad, to jump into action.
The author weaves an intricate tale full of twists, turns, and shocks. The characters, human and animal, are well-defined and easy to relate to. Carr is a master at developing the personalities of her animal characters. Sterling could carry an entire book with his antics, but when you add in all his pals, you’ll have a hit. I’m sure you can tell I’m a fan!
While this is the third book in the series, I think it would work great as a stand-alone. The author starts her books with a who’s who list of characters to set the stage and refresh the memory. Then it’s right into mysteries, note the plural!
This is a tangled web of mysteries and clues that keeps you read long into the night. Grab your copy now, or even better get the whole set.
