Genres: Epic Fantasy
Formats: eBook, Hardcover, Paperback

A matriarchal empire. A princess with forbidden magic. A mother who would kill to protect her own legacy.
As heir to the Min empire, Tori has learned to wear her collar well — speaking her mind just enough to feel like herself, defying her empress mother just enough to survive the guilt of submission. But she's hiding a secret that would see her sawn in half: a forbidden elemental power tied to the world's mythic past. If discovered, her mother would execute her own daughter without hesitation. And Tori knows it.
When discovery becomes inevitable, she flees into Peach Blossom Grove — a mythic realm of ghost-flowers, sentient forests, and immortals who remember a world before empires. In this ancient realm where immortal masters train magic-wielders and sentient weapons choose their owners, magic is neither blessing nor curse but a reflection of who you truly are. Here, Tori finds what the palace never gave her: belonging. But the trials are brutal, designed to break her before they remake her. And as her mother's ambition threatens war, Tori must choose: suppress the power that could doom her, or embrace it and become the one thing her mother fears most.
Herself.
Whispers of the Elixir begins the Order of the Ember series — a slow-burn, character-driven epic fantasy of legacy, sacrifice, and the strength of a princess destined to rise from the shadows and claim her place in legend.
Here you will find the political intrigue of Andrea Stewart, the immersive worldbuilding of Patrick Rothfuss, and the emotional weight of M.L. Wang.

Content Considerations
This story includes themes of political control, abuse of power, and a strained mother-daughter relationship shaped by manipulation and high expectations. There are references to execution and violence within a justice system, though these moments are not described in graphic detail.
Readers will also encounter emotional tension tied to identity, secrecy, and survival, as well as the psychological weight of living under constant scrutiny.
Overall, this is a character-driven epic fantasy that leans more toward emotional and thematic intensity than graphic content.
Why This Book Stands Out
Whispers of the Elixir stands out for its blend of lush, immersive worldbuilding and deeply personal stakes. While the setting is expansive-filled with hidden realms, elemental magic, and political tension-the heart of the story remains tightly focused on one young woman navigating identity, power, and expectation.
The matriarchal structure of the empire adds an interesting layer to the story, shaping both the political landscape and the personal conflicts in ways that feel fresh without being overwhelming. At the same time, the magic system isn't just decorative-it reflects character growth, internal struggle, and the cost of control.
Readers who enjoy slower, character-driven fantasy will likely appreciate how this story balances atmosphere with emotional depth, offering a thoughtful exploration of legacy, choice, and what it means to claim your own path.

Excerpt from Whispers of the Elixir by C.P. Silver
A cool, fluid resistance hit her head, flowed down her spine, and clung to her clothes, as though she were walking through a curtain of water. Sounds muffled, apart from the tinkle of trickling droplets, and the earth felt slick beneath her feet.
A moment later, the sensation ended, and she checked her body, finding it dry. All that remained was a feeling of pleasant freshness. Master Banfay stood a few steps ahead, poking idly at the ground, and at the sight of him, relief flooded her-she was in!
She looked around and gaped-the forest burst with color. It was as though she had been viewing the world until now through a dull, gray-tinted pane, and had finally stepped into the open. The air, too, had a purity she had never imagined possible, and everything felt alive in a way that didn't seem rational.
"Welcome to the Veil of Ayenashi," he said. "Be happy. Very few mortals ever set foot here."

On Writing Epic Fantasy: The Pros and Cons
I was asked to share the pros and cons of writing in the epic fantasy genre.
The pros are many, but I'll share three. Perhaps my favorite is creating a world from scratch-its history, its politics, even its physical laws if you so desire-to suit the story you want to tell. Building an entire world is immensely satisfying, and this role as creator (or a co-creator, as Tolkien put it), is exhilarating, a magic in itself.
Then, within this world are the people who inhabit it, and whose journeys give the world meaning. You delight in bringing them into being, and in discovering their unique gifts and quirks, like a doting parent discovering their offspring as a baby, then a toddler, then a child. There's a similar feeling of pride at their triumphs and devastation at their failures, which has been known to send authors crying into their keyboards. Though this attachment to characters isn't unique to fantasy authors, creating characters that are a product of the unique world you've created adds an extra dimension to this process.
Finally, there's the sheer fun of not merely creating a world unlike our own, but exploring it. As you craft the story, you are transported beyond space and time to experience the impossible.
Which brings me to the cons of writing in this genre.
The first is the difficulty of creating, within a fantastical world, that impression of reality necessary for readers to immerse themselves in a story. The more unlike our normal world the fictional world is, the more thought, effort, and skill this requires. It's a fine-tuned alchemy, and the authors I admire most seem to carry it off with ease, but in reality it is heavy work.
