My thoughts on Bobos Babes Adventures: The Missing Egg
The Missing Egg was my introduction to the world of Bobos Babes Adventures. A fun-filled land called Harmony is where Fairy Cora, Princess Daphne, and Angel Scarlett reside. They love to help out their friends and, along the way, bring joy to everyone.
Emily Hercock has brought the world of Harmony to life with her vibrant, colorful illustrations.
The story is entertaining and easy to read. Children will enjoy the tale of Russell the Swan, who mistakenly lost one of the eggs from his nest. Even adults will get a kick out of poor Russell, who was only tempted to leave the nest for a moment when “The Boys” tempted him with chocolate cake. Who hasn’t been there?
There is no real drama or trauma as the reader can see the little cygnet all along.
This delightful hardcover book should be in every library as children will beg to read it over and over.
I received a copy of the book for the tour. This review is my honest, unbiased opinion.

Author Interview
What inspired you to write The Missing Egg?
During the pandemic, my family stayed at my mother’s home in Northwest Indiana. There was a swan family in a pond nearby that we went to see most days. We watched from the parents sitting on the eggs to the day when the three cygnets were born. It brought my children and us so much happiness that it felt fitting to put them in the Bobos Babes Adventures.
Your characters tend to represent real people in your life, is that true in this book?
Yes, Russell and Diana represent a couple who are like our third set of parents. They have been together since they met in college, over 65 years ago. They don’t have any children but took me under their wings (pun intended) when I was in my mid-twenties. Making them swans, birds that mate for life, was a perfect fit.
Does the real Russell have a sweet tooth?
Yes, he’s so cute always talking about trying to stay away from desserts to be healthy.
What is your favorite dessert?
Raspberry Pie from Shaw’s Crab House in Chicago. I also love every single dessert from RL in Chicago. It is across the street from my OBGYN. It was dangerous going there when I was pregnant with each of my daughters.
Are you a character in your book as well?
Yes, I am the Queen of Harmony. I actually wasn’t going to put myself in the books, however, when I wrote Three Magical Christmas Trees, anticipated Christmas 2021, I had to include the Bobos Babes parents. What’s a magical Christmas without a mom and a dad?
Where do you write?
When I am at my mother’s home, I use my laptop and write in her office. Truthfully, when a thought comes to mind, I hurry and write it on the notes section of my smartphone. I’ve written several stanzas from my phone while sitting in the stands while my kids practice gymnastics or ice skating. I rarely write alone in silence. I have three kids.
Sometimes I’ll write in my office, which is next to our kitchen, while they are finishing their dinner or a snack. They put pressure on me and ask for new stories all the time, so I guess it helps keep me on my toes with new stories. The more often I write, the more creative my stories are.
Do you have another profession besides writing?
I am an exercise physiologist and own a wellness company in Chicago. My Bachelor’s degree is in English. I have been writing since a child, and I love writing and reading poetry. I have always been passionate about fitness, which influenced my decision to pursue my Master’s degree In Exercise Physiology. I have missed writing. My only “fun” writing over the years has been the poems that I create in our Christmas cards. I love when people tell me how they look forward to reading them. We send about 200 cards a year that include a poem of our year and a photoshoot of our family somewhere in Chicago. The girls look forward to wearing fabulous dresses.
