Friday Finds: December 2, 2022 | Giftable Books ~ Delish Recipes ~ Author of the Week ~ Xmas Lanterns ~ Super Blog Roundup

Hello, my friends & welcome to the December 2, 2022 Finds!

I am still on vacation as I write this, so if it’s a little sparse or scattered, blame it on “beach brain”! I am enjoying my time just relaxing and refreshing after the last few tough years.

I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving if you celebrate that holiday where you live. Mine was nice. We had Bob Evans deliver a full meal with turkey, ham, and all the sides. Oh, let’s not forget the pumpkin pie, too! I was impressed with the entire experience. If you’ve been with me a while, you know I live in a very rural area. Delivery is not something we are used to, although I could sure get accustomed to it.

I’ll be back home soon, so watch for all the many things I have put off while relaxing at the beach.

I hope you enjoy this week’s post and be sure you leave a comment below voting for your favorite find of the week.

Peace & Love

Friday Finds | December 2, 2022 | Books

These are a few of the books that caught my eye this week. Have you read them? Would you like to?

Knight Owl by Christopher Denise book cover image December 2, 2022

Knight Owl by Christopher Denise

A determined Owl builds strength and confidence in this medieval picture book about the real mettle of a hero: wits, humor, and heart.

Since the day he hatched, Owl dreamed of becoming a real knight. He may not be the biggest or the strongest, but his sharp nocturnal instincts can help protect the castle, especially since many knights have recently gone missing. While holding guard during Knight Night Watch, Owl is faced with the ultimate trial—a frightening intruder. It’s a daunting duel by any measure. But what Owl lacks in size, he makes up for in good ideas.

Full of wordplay and optimism, this surprising display of bravery proves that cleverness (and friendship) can rule over brawn.

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie book cover image - deluxe

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie

A beautifully produced giftable edition of the world’s greatest crime writer’s best and most influential mystery, which changed the game with an unprecedented plot twist!

With its famously shocking ending, The Murder of Roger Ackroyd is one of Agatha Christie’s greatest mysteries and the book that changed her career.

One evening the wealthy Roger Ackroyd is discovered slumped in his armchair, a knife buried in his heart. It is the start of a murder case that spurs the inhabitants of the sleepy English village of King’s Abbot to feverish speculation.

The local police are perplexed, but soon a recently retired Belgian detective, Hercule Poirot, joins the investigation. The truth he uncovers will shock even the most imaginative of the village gossips.

Rest is Resistance by Tricia Hersey book cover image

Rest is Resistance by Tricia Hersey

***INSTANT NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER***

Disrupt and push back against capitalism and white supremacy. In this book, Tricia Hersey, aka The Nap Bishop, encourages us to connect to the liberating power of rest, daydreaming, and naps as a foundation for healing and justice.

What would it be like to live in a well-rested world? Far too many of us have claimed productivity as the cornerstone of success. Brainwashed by capitalism, we subject our bodies and minds to work at an unrealistic, damaging, and machine‑level pace –– feeding into the same engine that enslaved millions into brutal labor for its own relentless benefit.

An American in Provence by Jamie Beck book cover image

An American in Provence by Jamie Beck

Let Jamie Beck transport you to the South of France with An American in Provence: part art book, part travelogue, part memoir, and part cookbook, and perfect for art lovers, Francophiles, and armchair travelers alike.

An American in Provence is a beautiful collection of exquisite portrait, scenic, and still-life photography from wildly popular and award-winning photographer Jamie Beck. Looking to slow down from her fast-paced life in New York City, Beck moved to the French countryside, documenting her life as “An American in Provence.” What started as a one-year getaway became five as she continues to chronicle her life there through her photography on Instagram @JamieBeck.co, including the birth of her daughter, Eloise, all in the most breathtaking way.

  1. Eve

Hope it’s still nice at the beach. It’s sort of cold and rainy here in California, but tourists come for our beaches anyway. I think I’d rather stay home and write–or perhaps read. 🙂

    • It is beautiful here. I’m struggling to make myself leave. I hear it’s cold & snowy at home so I’ll be ready to snuggle in to read & write, too
