A raindrop has seen the rise and fall of civilizations and survived deserts of ice and sand. However, despite all of her adventures, she has lost the magic of being alive. That is until a gust of wind—or perhaps a twist of fate—sends her face-to-face with a lowly rock. But what good could possibly come from a conversation with a rock? It turns out, this is no ordinary rock. This particular rock watches the world around him evolve in the most astonishing of ways, and he can almost touch the hand wielding such bewildering and obvious might. From their sudden encounter, two things spark between them: friendship and a spiritual quest.

In this lighthearted romp through a serious world, the rock and the raindrop explore life from different points of view, and with their combined talents, they discover that what may appear commonplace is, in reality, an intricate puzzle. With the help of the surrounding forest, they unearth hidden mathematical and philosophical treasures, traces of the spiritual world working quietly behind the scenes. As you follow them on their journey, you’re invited to see that which appears ordinary in a new light, to reconsider what’s taken for granted, and to challenge the boundaries of your imagination.

Tenochtitlan, 1519. Motecuhzoma, leader of the Mexica Confederacy, rules over the largest domain in all of Mesoamerica and has every expectation that his nation will continue to reign supreme… but the arrival of strange foreigners will test that confidence.

Driven by God, gold, and glory, the uncouth interlopers are led by Hernando Cortes and command weapons that can shake the sky. Their disruptive presence demands a response, but Motecuhzoma knows better than to rush into war and sends out envoys to discover more. The information they return with is nothing short of shocking, and a decision is thrust upon Motecuhzoma that could elevate his nation to new heights or cause its utter ruin.

Combining the political intrigue of Hillary Mantel’s Wolf Hall Series with the gripping battles of Conn Iggulden’s Conqueror series, this award-winning novel draws upon modern scholarship to recount an event still unique today: the epic collision of two civilizations separated for millennia.

Cal and his best friends set out to evade adult responsibility and chase the endless summer across the map. They land in Lake Victoria, Arizona, a party oasis in the heart of BRO culture. With some small-town sensibility, the outsider crew unifies the lake’s wake scene and helps save a bullied marina from snobby yacht club encroachment by staging a mammoth, end-of-season music and water sports festival against the wishes of the town’s well-to-do and a pair of hard-nosed park rangers. Navigating childhood friendships, growing pains, hard work, heartbreak, and new love, Cal begins to come to terms with the meaning of growing up while staying young at heart in this fish out of water romantic comedy. Life is over in an instant for sixteen-year-old Finn Miller when a devastating car accident tumbles her and ten others over the side of a mountain. Suspended between worlds, she watches helplessly as those she loves struggle to survive.

Impossible choices are made, decisions that leave the survivors tormented with grief and regret. Unable to let go, Finn keeps vigil as they struggle to reclaim their shattered lives. Jack, her father, who seeks vengeance against the one person he can blame other than himself; her best friend, Mo, who bravely searches for the truth as the story of their survival is rewritten; her sister Chloe, who knows Finn lingers and yearns to join her; and her mother, Ann, who saved them all but is haunted by her decisions. Finn needs to move on, but how can she with her family still in pieces?

Heartrending yet ultimately redemptive, In an Instant is a story about the power of love, the meaning of family, and carrying on…even when it seems impossible.

  1. I’ve never heard of the pin loom before. The animals that can be made are so cute. I like the grape pillow, too. I’m visiting from Inspire Me Monday.
