Synopsis from Goodreads:

Solomon “Solo” Davis is a man of faith, but even for him not all things are believable. How quickly his life is turned upside when he comes face to face with one of his doubts. Can he believe in something that is so impossible?

What if your dreams of last night…

“Top story tonight,” read the senior news anchor. Solo held his breath, waiting to hear about the kidnapping or the death of the older couple. He had already had two of his dreams strangely come true with frightening detail, and he couldn’t help but wonder if it was some cosmic coincidence; a million to one chance that all his dreams actually occurred. Could this really be happening?

Became your reality for today?

“Oh God! Oh God! What do I do? What do I do?” Solo prayed, hoping the perfect answer would drop out of the sky at his feet. The thought sickened him that if his dream with the preschool students with their laughter and singing was real. Then the ruthless kidnappers and serial killers must be real. And the crying, terror-stricken, kidnapped girl must be real too.

How can you do nothing when you know something is going to happen?

Watch out Washington D.C. The Carbon Monoxide Killers are on the loose.
“Are you ready for this?” she asked her father, who slowly nodded, taking in a deep breath.
“It’s now or never.”

My Review of Soloman’s Dreams by Eric Suddoth

A superb psychological thriller.

The story is told from multiple perspectives, although the main character is Solomon. I thought several times I had it figured out, only to turn the page and find another possibility.

The author has a firm grasp on the genre. I expect this book to rise in the rankings as more people discover it.

Solomon’s Dreams is full of intriguing characters. The sarcastic banter between many of them is pure genius. The Christian aspects of the novel are subtle, yet contribute significantly to the plot.

Fans of psychological thrillers, suspense, mysteries, and even police procedurals will love this book. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fast-paced, gripping, page-turner.

An interview with Eric Suddoth, author of Soloman’s Dreams – The Hunting at Huntington

Review: Solomon's Dreams by Eric Suddoth author photo

How long have you been writing? I have been writing for 20 years. It started in high school secretly writing in my bedroom the typical poems, songs, and short stories. I wrote my first novel ten years ago and am slowly releasing them. It’s taken me a while to get the confidence to share my stories, but now that I have, I plan on releasing many more.

What inspired you to write in this genre? I am a huge fan of suspenseful movies with twists. I love the feeling of being on the edge of your seat and then totally shocked by the unexpected climax. Alfred Hitchcock is one of my favorite directors with how he carefully builds the suspense through music, camera angles, dialogue, and especially through a good story. I have read quite a bit of James Patterson and the amazing Agatha Christie and thought if they could write a mystery, so could I. Thus began my writing of novels ten years ago.

Which genre would your story belong in if your life was fictionalized? My life would probably be a comedy. I try very hard to keep a positive attitude in every situation. I am a nerdy CPA by day, so laughs are a go-to to get through the day.

More from Eric on his writing style!

Do you have a set writing schedule? I have a loose writing schedule. Since tax season requires a lot of late nights and weekends, I usually do not write from January to April. During this time, I review previously written stories to consider publishing or start a mental brainstorming of new story ideas. Beginning in June, I try to write an hour a night on my free nights and a couple of hours on the weekends.

Do you need silence to write, or can you work in any environment? I prefer silence. But I can write with noise because I’m used to drowning out noise from working in an office setting for 15 years.

If you could set up your perfect writing scenario, what would it involve? Two months off from work so I could focus entirely on writing.

What is your most unusual writing quirk? I come up with a rough plotline, but many times in the middle of a chapter, my characters do something I didn’t plan, and I roll with it. It’s baffling what your imagination can do. Some people look at me oddly when I have said that, but I believe most writers have experienced this type of euphoria while writing.

Were you an avid reader growing up? Sadly I didn’t dive into books until later in life. I was glued to old movies in middle school and high school. It’s hard to admit, but I am still a TV junkie.

Please share this review. Let’s get the word out about this great book!

If you could form the ultimate writers’ group, which authors past or present would you invite to join you? James Patterson, Agatha Christie, John Grisham, the Apostle Paul, David (I find much inspiration from biblical letters and stories), Harper Lee, Charles Dickens, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Stuart Woods, Francis Chan. An eclectic group, but I feel this would be an interesting grouping of some of my favorites.

Who has influenced your writing the most? Not one particular person, but anyone who pursues their dreams I greatly admire and respect. When I see someone facing challenges to reach their dreams, well, that inspires me to keep on writing.

Is there anything you would like my readers to know about you and your book? It’s been a long process, but it’s just the beginning of my writing journey. After I published Solomon’s Dreams, many people approached me, shocked that I wrote. I want my book to encourage others that if I can publish a book that they can do anything they dream. Just as Solomon is faced with a decision to act or not, I truly believe we each have a daily decision to take a step of faith or not. Thus, I just released a devotional to encourage readers to chase their God-given dreams, Dream Chasers – A Journey of Faith.

No matter where you acquire the books you read, please leave a review. Amazon and Goodreads are the most popular places, and you don’t have to own the book to review it. A review doesn’t have to be fancy or in-depth, a simple “Thumbs up. I liked this book,” will help the author immensely.
