Excerpt from The Unknown Truth
The most important part of writing this story now, after all these years, is me giving myself permission to write when I thought that I didn’t deserve to open up about my own issues, when so many around me had more traumatic stories to share.
I have felt guilty for dumping on others. I have felt brave for overcoming that guilt and doing it anyway, with the support of those around me. I feel scared and apprehensive about what the trauma therapy I will undertake will bring up for me, but I also feel proud of myself and excited for the positives that I know the future will hold for me now.
I have Complex PTSD, and I will be okay!

My Thoughts on The Unknown Truth: A Mental Health Memoir
The Unknown Truth is one of those books that quietly breaks you open a little, in the best way. Libby Hall shares her mental health journey with a vulnerability rarely found today. Her story is brave, raw, and deeply personal, yet it is written with such clarity that it makes it easy to connect with.
This memoir about Complex PTSD and childhood trauma offers a real-life look at healing and hope. She explains the long, winding road to understanding her Complex PTSD. It’s not a straight path. There are missed signs, well-meaning but harmful treatments, and the deep-rooted belief that maybe things “aren’t that bad.” But through it all, she keeps searching, and she keeps going.
This memoir doesn’t pretend to offer all the answers—it offers something better: real-life truth and hope. If you’ve ever struggled with mental health or wanted to understand better someone who does, I highly recommend giving this one a read. It’s compassionate, compelling, and most importantly, honest.
I received a copy of the book for the tour. This review represents my honest and unbiased opinion.
