The 17 March 2023 Friday Finds are here with a new Author of the Week, Books to Read, Good Food to Eat, Gardening, and Giveaways.
Hello, my friends & welcome to the 17 March 2023 Fun!
Let’s see what’s new this week. It’s a new season around here. NCAA March Madness is upon us. This is my favorite time of year for sports. Once college basketball is over, I’ll be ready for baseball…and warmer weather.
I’m trying to attend a Zoom meeting about getting high-speed internet to the rural areas of my county. Unfortunately, my internet is not fast enough to handle it. What a conundrum. lol
Are you celebrating St. Patrick’s day? We have a long-standing tradition of meeting friends at our local Irish pub for fun & games. But this year, we had to cancel due to several in the group being unable to attend. But I’m wearing green & toasting y’all. I’m told everyone has a spot of Irish in them today!
I hope you have a wonderful day, whether you are celebrating or not.
Peace & Love
Note: I will share purchase links on all recommended items if possible. Every purchase made through my links helps support this blog.

The Hot Cross Bunny by Carys Bexington
Meet Steve, a rather—hot—cross bunny, and his more positive pal, Nugget, a cute chick. Steve has failed to make any chocolate eggs for the Easter egg hunt. What is he going to do?
Egged on by Nugget, he decides to make an egg his own way. Not only is Steve’s attempt egg-normous but it hatches a… dragon! Chaos and drama unfold as the baby dragon rampages through town, gobbling up Easter eggs as it goes with unegg-spected results!
Fun, rhyming text makes this a wonderful Easter story with a twist packed with laughter and super silly escapades.
Who needs cute bunnies when you have hot-cross Steve and a dragon baby who poops chocolate… but can they save Easter?

All My Knotted Up Life: A Memoir by Beth Moore
An incredibly thoughtful, disarmingly funny, and intensely vulnerable glimpse into the life and ministry of a woman familiar to many but known by few.
“It’s a peculiar thing, this having lived long enough to take a good look back. We go from knowing each other better than we know ourselves to barely sure if we know each other at all, to precisely sure that we don’t. All my knotted-up life I’ve longed for the sanity and simplicity of knowing who’s good and who’s bad. I’ve wanted to know this about myself as much as anyone. This was not theological. It was strictly relational. God could do what he wanted with eternity. I was just trying to make it here in the meantime. As benevolent as he has been in a myriad of ways, God has remained aloof on this uncomplicated request.” – Beth Moore
New York Times best-selling author, speaker, visionary, and founder of Living Proof Ministries Beth Moore has devoted her whole life to helping women across the globe come to know the transforming power of Jesus. An established writer of many acclaimed books and Bible studies for women on spiritual growth and personal development, Beth unveils her story in a much-anticipated debut memoir.
All My Knotted-Up Life includes:
- 8 pages of photos
- An exploration of Beth’s childhood, love, marriage, and motherhood
- Insights on what it was like when she was “waist-deep in a season of loss”
- A discussion of her 2018 break with the Southern Baptist movement
- Details on the origins of Living Proof Ministries
All My Knotted-Up Life is told with surprising candor about some of the personal heartbreaks and behind-the-scenes challenges that have marked Beth’s life. But beyond that, it’s a beautifully crafted portrait of resilience and survival, a poignant reminder of God’s enduring faithfulness, and proof positive that if we ever truly took the time to hear people’s full stories . . . we’d all walk around slack-jawed.

Storm Watch (A Joe Pickett Novel) by CJ Box
Wyoming Game Warden Joe Pickett investigates a mysterious death at a secret remote high-tech facility in this riveting new novel from #1 New York Times bestseller C.J. Box.
When a prominent University of Wyoming professor goes missing, authorities are stumped. That is, until Joe Pickett makes two surprising discoveries while hunting down a wounded elk on his district as an epic spring storm descends upon him. First, he finds the professor’s vehicle parked on a remote mountainside. Then Joe finds the professor’s frozen and mutilated body. When he attempts to learn more, his investigation is obstructed by federal agents, extremists, and Governor Colter Allen.
Nate Romanowski is rebuilding his falconry company—and financing this through crypto mining with the assistance of Geronimo Jones. He’s then approached by a shadowy group of local militant activists that is gaining in power and influence, and demanding that Wyoming join other western states and secede from the union—by force, if necessary. They ask Nate to throw in with them, but he’s wary. Should he trust them, or is he being set up?
As a storm of peril gathers around them, Joe and Nate confront it in different ways—and maybe, for the first time, on opposite sides.

The Devine Doughnut Shop by Carolyn Brown
Three women are torn between traditions of the past and unexpected new beginnings in a warmhearted novel by Carolyn Brown about family, romance, and the best pastries in Texas.
For Grace Dalton, her sister, Sarah, and her cousin Macy, the Devine Doughnut Shop is a sweet family legacy and a landmark in their Texas town. As the fourth generation to run the Double D, they keep their great-grandmother’s recipe secret and uphold the shop’s tradition as a coffee klatch for sharing local gossip, advice, and woes. But drama brews behind the counter, too.
Grace is a single mother struggling with an unruly teenage daughter. Heartbroken Sarah has sworn off love. Macy’s impending wedding has an unexpected hitch. And now charming developer Travis Butler has arrived in Devine with a checkbook and a handsome smile. He wants to buy the shop, expand it nationally, and boost the economy of a town divided by the prospect.
With the family’s relationships in flux, their beloved heritage up for grabs, and their future in the air, it’s amazing what determination, sass, a promise of romance, and a warm maple doughnut can do to change hearts and minds.

Gardening is an excellent hobby with incredible benefits. Whether you plant a full-on “feed the whole family & neighborhood” garden or a patio container garden, this journal has everything you need. Check out the great tips to make your garden a success and keep track of your plants all in one place.
Garden Journal and Almanac with illustrated pages for planning, making lists, logging performance, tracking spending, and more. One of my grandsons is planning his first garden this year. He’s quite the little scientist, so I think he will especially enjoy his very own garden journal.

**The secret to purchasing Kindle Unlimited with a 6-month, 12-month, or 24-month plan is to purchase a Kindle Unlimited Gift Subscription HERE, and enter your OWN email address as the recipient. The email address you enter must be the same address you use for your Amazon account.
There is nothing shady about this practice. Amazon just keeps the instructions so well hidden that many people never find them. I guess that’s the way you make money. I’m more of a share-the-wealth and information kind of gal.

The month is half over, and the entries in the monthly contest are low for March. So answer these questions in the comments to register your entry.

I hope you find a good internet solution for yourself and those in rural areas. And I hope you had a great St. Patrick’s day.
Thanks so much for stopping by! At the meeting, they talked about how many households per mile they need to make it work. We have 1 house every few miles. I think my only shot at high speed is to move! I had a very good day yesterday, how about you?
Happy St. Patrick’s Day! I’m new to gardening but having fun planting and repotting seeds this year and I can’t wait to see how it all turns out! I’m sure the gardening journal would be helpful! Especially since I know I’ve already made some mistakes but I’m learning along the way!
So much cuteness! I’m sure your gardening grandson will love that journal! Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Gina!
Happy St. Paddy’s to you, Eve! Have a fab weekend
Happy St. Paddy’s Day, Gina! After this past week’s battle with Covid, shortened thankfully by paxlovid (nastiest tasting drug in the world, but it works), am so grateful to have tested negative yesterday and thus able to join my band Trillium for our Celtic gigs this weekend. Slainte ~ mim
Happy St. Paddy’s Day to you too, Mim. I’m so sorry you had to deal with Covid, but glad you are better. I thought about you & Trillium when I was writing the post. Enjoy your special weekend!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Gina. How frustrating for you to have slow internet, that would be maddening for sure. I hope something happens for all of you. Too bad you are forgoing your annual get together this year. Enjoy your day anyway.
Thanks, Carla. Happy St. Paddy’s Day to you too. Are you reading a good Irish book this weekend?
