The 28 April 2023 Friday Finds are here with a new Author of the Week,
Welcome. Welcome, Welcome to the 28 April 2023 Fun!
I hope you are doing well and ready to enjoy the weekend. I am celebrating the birthday of my firstborn today. For her sake AND MINE, I’m not divulging her age! I am pretty sure I am not old enough to be her mother. hahaha
Happy Birthday, Love! See you soon!
As you may have noticed from the website sidebar, I have temporarily closed my acceptance of book reviews. I am overwhelmed with the number of requests I have and need to get myself organized and caught up. I’ll keep yall up to date on my progress. You can expect fewer tours this summer and more accountability posts, indie author reviews, and creativity posts.
With warmer weather approaching, I’ll be tackling outdoor projects, which takes away from my reading & blogging time a bit. All this is to say, if I am on my game, you won’t notice much difference, but if things slow down on the blog, you’ll know why.
Don’t forget about the Question of the Week! Can you tell me in the comments who designed Central Park and why that person is relevant to this post? This is the last post of April, so I’ll have an announcement next week… I hope!
Peace & Love
Today’s email-only subscribers received a 25% off coupon on Kids Books and a recipe for Down-Home Dusty Potatoes. If you have a “Fear of Missing Out,” subscribe to the Friday Finds email list on the sidebar. I never spam you. I send one email a week unless something special is time-sensitive. Those might come a couple of times per year.

Jessica D. Adams was the co-winner of the March Question of the Week contest. That earned her a spot as Author of the Week. Please welcome Jessica back to the website (on the sidebar & in this post) by reading my reviews and visiting her website. She is also the featured author in my Bookshop. Below is a bit more about Jessica and her plans for the immediate future.
Jessica D. Adams is a homeschooling mom, author, and Occupational Therapist. Her daughters inspired her to write books about The Underground Toy Society, where lost, lonely, and forgotten toys go to find help when kids don’t take care of them. She also published adventures about her daughters traveling back in time to meet their grandmother before she passed away.
To help kids with reading, writing, and fine motor skills, Jessica has been combining her Occupational Therapy and book publishing knowledge to create educational, printable resources. She shares parenting tips and reviews on her website and author YouTube channel.
To celebrate Children’s Book Week from May 1-7, 2023, Jessica will publish fun new videos on The Underground Toy Society’s YouTube channel.
Would you like to be featured as my Author/Blogger of the Week? Please drop me a comment below to let me know. That’s all it takes! If no one “volunteers,” I have systems in place to choose one.

Wild New World: The epic story of Animals & People in America by Dan Flores
In thrilling narrative style, informed by genomic science, evolutionary biology, and environmental history, Flores celebrates the astonishing bestiary that arose on our continent and introduces the complex human cultures and individuals who hastened its eradication, studied America’s animals, and moved heaven and earth to rescue them. Eons in scope and continental in scale, Wild New World is a sweeping yet intimate Big History of the animal-human story in America.

Meet Me at the Lake by Carley Fortune
At thirty-two, Fern’s life doesn’t look at all how she once imagined it would. Instead of living in the city, Fern’s back home, running her mother’s lakeside resort—something she vowed never to do. The place is in disarray, her ex-boyfriend’s the manager, and Fern doesn’t know where to begin.
She needs a plan—a lifeline. To her surprise, it comes in the form of Will, who arrives nine years too late, with a suitcase in tow and an offer to help on his lips. Will may be the only person who understands what Fern’s going through. But how could she possibly trust this expensive-suit wearing mirage who seems nothing like the young man she met all those years ago. Will is hiding something, and Fern’s not sure she wants to know what it is.
But ten years ago, Will Baxter rescued Fern. Can she do the same for him?

Thank you so much for choosing me as your “Blogger Of The Week.” I’m honestly so honoured. That oat cup recipe looks great so will be checking that out.
I’m happy to have you this week Pooja!
Thank you so much for including me and The Underground Toy Society in your amazing blog this week! I’m so excited for Children’s Book Week and I cannot wait to post our fun videos for kids! Your question of the week sure had me stumped this week. I’m usually not very good with trivia but I think I got it figured out. I hope doing an internet search isn’t against the rules, lol. I looked it up and it says that Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux designed Central Park and it has to do with the blog because of the book Landscape of a Marriage: Central Park Was Only the Beginning. That was fun but I hope I hid my answer enough so others can find the answer too! Or maybe my answer is wrong, lol!
Have a great weekend and happy birthday to your daughter!
Thanks for playing along, Jessica! No rules at all. Just hoping to get readers to connect the dots & read more of my posts! Which you did! 👏🏼
I have no idea who designed Central Park or whether birds can, or cannot cook, but I always have fun visiting your blog, and reading book reviews and recipes. 🙂
